We can only count ourselves fortunate not to be subject to the ferocity of Milton et al. Some interesting advice from Hillsborough County for EV owners in the event of evacuation including this little gem, "EVs and flooding Never drive through flood water. Water and EV batteries do not mix! Water will not only damage the Battery but can lead to a dangerous Battery fire. Combustion can happen in an instant or manifest weeks or months after exposure to salt water.Don't drive or charge an EV that has been flooded or submerged for all of the reasons above"

Living furthest from the sea gives me a little comfort unless the Sea World aquarium bursts 😊

I’m a worrier so this would cripple me!  I’m on top of a hill but could imagine any water ingress could have similar issues….

I guess we need some definitive advice from a definitive authority?

You have got to appreciate the irony. Transition to EV in the name of climate change, but get toasted in your EV if the weather turns bad.

Like many I have moaned about the weather in the North virtually all my life. Then I go abroad. Canada in winter, please I want to go home. In Florence, or Spain , or South of France and it's 35 to 40 degrees and I am ducking from Aircon to Aircon, please I want to go home. In conclusion, strange as it sounds considering my moaning about the weather I seem to be in exactly the place that suits me best.

Your love affair with the Europeans continues 😊. From the old French word cr*ppe 🚽. But all is not lost here are some ideas!

In Somerset, a “letty” is just enough rain to make outdoor working difficult, while in neighbouring Devon and Cornwall a “dimpsey” is a very dull day with low cloud and fine rain

In Lincolnshire, particularly forceful rain is described with the phrase “raining forks’tines down’ards”.The tines here would belong to hay or dung forks.

Elsewhere, the same weather may be described as “raining stair rods or "cats and dogs". Or black over Bill's mothers when it comes to forecasts 😎

Having said that the prose is far more preferable to the actualite😅

The thing about English weather is that it may well be grey, dull, damp, miserable but at least it is seldom violent.

BTW Phil, having lived in France for 20 yrs we have a good knowledge of French curses and swearwords. they are generally more poetic and funny than the english variety ( Cr*p is actually English - Merde, conneries, chier is more French but with subtle differences however they are used in context ) . Ta Geule is a great one or even ruder Ta mere!!!

And our weather is ours unlike the fish, laws etc that appears to be someone else's? Your insight into expletives is welcome but am I right in thinking that the etymology of cr*p and merde are two different strains as it were?
