When I try to unlock my car remotely via the app I get a message reading: "Your request could not be completed because the alarm was set in your vehicle. You cannot unlock a vehicle equipped with an alarm when it was locked with a key".

What is the point of having an unlock feature if it will not unlock a car when the alarm is set, of course the alarm will be set whenever the car is locked and left?

Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks

Furthermore, I manually unlocked it then succesfully locked it again with the app but now when I try to unlock it with the app it says that it HAS unlocked but it hasn't!

Maybe it is a feature for higher models with the "keyless" option??

I can only lock and unlock my car with the buttons on the key itself. I will have to try the app unlock to see if I get the same message.

Mine is keyless, also I have managed to unlock the door once via the app after unlocking it manually then locking it with the app. Also, see above, it now tells me that the car is unlocked when it is not. I'm trying to call the Lexus help line but annoyingly for the last few hours the line goes to a message telling me the team are "in a meeting"!!

So - answer from Lexus - you can only use the app to remotely unlock the car if you used the app to lock it earlier!

This is ridulous. Firstly, drivers will rarely know in advance that they might have a need to remotely unlock the door, usually this function might be needed when a passenger unexpectedly has cause to return to the car without the driver, i.e. to deposit shopping, to retrieve a forgotton item maybe, etc. when the driver has perhaps had to be elsewhere, i.e. at a seperate appointment, etc.

No one is going to get into the habit of routinely locking the car via the app to cover such unexpected / rare circumstances considering the fact that rather than simply exiting the car and pressing the door handle, to lock it via the app will involve getting ones phone out, opening the app, pressing the remote lock button and waiting some 60-90 seconds for the app to connect to the car and hopefully lock the doors (I say "hopefully" because many times I try to use this app I get a message telling me "there was an error processing your request, please try again"). It is simply far too cumbersome and time consuming.

I know that the level and capabilities of the tech on Lexus vehicles is sadly way behind that found on other makes but the ability to remotely unlock the car irrespective of how it was locked is surely not beyond the skills of Lexus programmers? My previous BMW's and even my two previous Ford Focus's remote opening apps allowed it.

Yet another Lexus failing, frankly there are far too many for an alleged "luxury" brand Takumi spec. Lexus product developers really need to rent a BMW for a week or two to see how tech should really work.

The remote unlocking of the car can be useful, ie wife shopping whilst I’m at an appointment and she wishes to pop back to the car to deposit shopping, remote activation of hazard lights to locate car in dark car park, pre-heat the car on cold days before you get there, fuel/range/service status etc etc. lots of useful features.

Why doesn't your wife carry one of the spare keys the car is supplied with?

How on earth did we cope without an app for our cars before?😉🙄🙄

I am sure that I am not the only one but this sort of palaver/ spyware/ stealing personal data/ interference/ unnecessary complication really puts me off a new car. I recently discovered that I can connect my Lexus to my wi-fi at home, so I did it. Why???? It does nothing.

If you haven’t got a very good mobile signal you install your updates and maps on CarPlay etc.
