I’ve just realised that the RX 450h+ doesn’t come with run flat tyres like the NX does.  I presume it’s just the foam kit.  Is there an option for a spare tyre, what have others done other than hope.  Having just missed a 18 inch wide pothole which was at least as deep it’s at the forefront of my mind

When I placed the RX450h+ order at Snows Exeter, I specifically asked if the car came with a spare wheel. 'Yes, of course' said the salesman!

Some time later, unlike you,  I didn't miss the 18 inch wide pot hole and split the nearside rear tyre. Fortunately I was 5 minutes from home and the tyre retained enough air to get home. I called the AA via Lexus free Roadside Assistance and within minutes the fellow arrived and effected a repair job enabling me to get to the tyre retailer the following morning. I watched him plug the tyre and since then, I purchased a cheap kit to do the same job. Not had to use it yet though.

I would much prefer to have a spare or at least run-flat tyres. Maybe when the time comes to replace tyres.

If I was you I would always go for the spare wheel if that’s an option …… storage whatever …… one doesn’t always have just a puncture to be fixed, these days a pothole often simply destroys the tyre

My recentish pothole experience with my 2006 Honda Legend ……. which thankfully has a spare wheel ok 👌 RAC changing the destroyed tyre wheel for the spacesaver 👍

That's interesting, another reason I will stick with my 3rd Gen RX450h which  has a fairly substantial space saver tyred wheel.  It is little know but Lexus did a raised cover so that owners could fit a full size spare if they were prepared to lose some boot space on the 3rd Gen cars.

Spoke to the dealer today there is no option for spare tyre, even space saver

Suggest you simply buy the correct Spacesaver and keep it in the car …….. RAC. AA  whatever all have jacks and wheelbrace so you shouldn’t need those to lug around if you’re a Member needing assistance
