Hi,

Very occasionally (it's happened maybe four times over two years), the Battery level on the energy monitor screen will be completely blank when I start the car. It usually then restores the bars once we've been moving for a bit. I've not noticed any problems with the hybrid system when this happens, but it's a bit disconcerting. Has anyone else experienced this?

No, mine never goes lower than 2. The engine cuts in if it gets to 2

I've never seen this. What was the Battery status when you switched it off? It does imply that the Battery is losing some charge when left, and possibly indicates one or two cells might be having an issue.

Yes – 2005 400

Happened once after I blew the main fuse (reverse poled the battery). Fixed it after a long period off road. Since then. Charge always displays minimum 2 red bars.

You might benefit from a hybrid Battery health check. Or try Dr Prius app?

Even after I dried and repaired my HB when it turned into a swimming pool and shorted out, the display returned to normal.

Probably nothing to worry about.

I could have been clearer in my original post; it seems more like a display glitch than a problem with the batteries. Whenever this has happened, I’ve been able to drive away on Battery only, and when the display recovers, the Battery level jumps back to where it was before, eg. four bars rather than starting at one.

Dr Prius app sounds interesting, I’ll take a look.

Sounds like a corner-case software bug then - I didn't experience that in the five years I had my 400h, but I'd mainly have the display on the Consumption screen rather than Energy Monitor, with energy monitoring on the instrument cluster screen.

Looking at your picture again, it seems you also don't have a temperature reading - which would certainly point to a software issue, or problem with the infotainment computer, rather than something with the hybrid system itself.
