Facial Recognition & Setting Keys Up

Recommended Posts

When we picked up our new LBX in August the salesman registered both keys when my wife and I were in the car.

He commented that if we wanted to assign keys individually then only one key should be in the car at a time when setting up and assigning the keys.

My wife has said when she gets in the car with her key the message on the dash says some features are not available (I assume as it isn't me).

I have two questions.

1. If we wanted to reset my wifes key to be assigned to her and not of them both to me, is this possible?

2. if so how do I do this, will I have to do both keys and reset everything?

Regards

David

It's getting beyond a joke all this spyware, personal information and data being discreetly taken and useless gimmickry, why does the car need to know who is driving it? Unless it wants to bear a grudge if someone is not treating it nicely?

In the ISF, I just push the button and it goes, push again and it stops. No key = no entry and no go, surely that's enough?  ( Taken as given that the usual common sense security is addressed .)

 PS  No canbus either 🙂

I like some of the gimmicks but not all, my wife however just wants the basic stuff.

Main reason I ask is because it says some features aren't available for her and I'm curious to know.

I also don't know whether settings are user specific e.g. Reverse tilt mirror settings. I suspect not on my version.

That's the first sexist car I've come across. I would expect Jeep and Dodge to be sexist but not sweeties like Lexus and Honda.

I've just gone through this set up. You can go into your profile and remove the keys  once you have set up face recognition or linked a phone. You can then re-add one of the keys in your profile, close the car and reopen it with the other key and add that to your wife's profile, you can also add her phone and get her to do facial recognition when sitting in the drivers seat. She will need to have set up a lexus account to store the profile online I think. From the manual "The user profile can be registered or changed. By registering a user profile, driving positions, multimedia settings, and various other individual vehicle settings can be saved as a profile for each driver"

I'm still playing with this so I'm not sure what "various other individual vehicle settings" actually means, I'm assuming maybe meter and steering wheel switch customisation, perhaps some more experienced owners can clarify?

What a palaver! My car doesn't give a toss about me or who I am and does not want to spy on me. It just wants me to be nice and kind and gentle with it.

Thanks I'll give that a go.

I have the same problem as you, Winstanley.

Both keys seem to be registered to me, when I try to change one for my wife, they both have my wife's name.

As for registered users, the car only ever shows one, I get the impression that my wife will have to download the Lexus app & register an account, before we can have separate profiles. She has no interest in doing that, she just wants to drive the car, with no faffing about.

I would dearly love to have TomTom on the big screen, a far better satnav, in my opinion. Is there a 12 year old in a bedroom somewhere that can sort that out?

I would have thought that the car would come with Android Auto and/or apple Car Play already installed, or at the very least the dealer may have to activate it for you. Is that not the case?

Same with my wife, she's no interest in any features, just wants to drive it so I've left both keys registered to me.

Hi Herbie,

I'm not sure what Android Auto does, I thought it was something to do with playing music from your phone (not interested), is it a sat nav? I don't touch anything apple, over rated & over priced in my opinion.

Hi Winstanley,

So it's not just me, we'll live with it. It's a shame a great car is being spoilt by a lot of unnecessary technical rubbish, where oh where is the delete button?

Dave,

You can download Tom Tom to your phone & then connect your phone to the car.

Assume you have an Android Phone, you will need a wired connection or a Dongle which erases the need for a wired connection.

Waze (owned by Google) is the best navigation app by a long way. It has real time updates from other Wazers giving information about stranded cars, Police cars/vans/traps, potholes and traffic. It is free and can be set as the default navigation app for Android Auto or apple Car Play. Your Android phone should have Android Auto baked in so just plugging your phone into the car should make it appear.

Thanks Heuer,

I've found Waze, TomTom AmiGo & TomTom Go Navigation (subscription).

I'll try them all to see the one I like the best.

I find the large, clear lane information on the approach to junctions very useful on the old TomTom stuck to the windscreen.
