Hi everyone, I took delivery of an LBX Takumi a week ago. First Lexus I have owned and might well be my last ever car as I am now past retirement age. My first car was a clapped out Fiat 127 bought for £50 in 1982 and sold a year later for £100. Since then have had a succession of Fiats, Fords, Hondas and more recently a Mercedes A Class. Very pleased with the Lexus so far, achieving up to 70mpg in the London suburbs, and 62mpg yesterday on a longer trip to the coast.

Just wondering does anyone have any advice re vulnerability to keys being cloned? With the A class if you double-tapped the locking button on the remote control, it would power down the unit and it would stop emitting a signal until you pressed the unlock button.

In the LBX manual it says if you press and hold the lock button whilst double tapping the unlock button, the key stops receiving until you later press any button, but it is not clear if this also stops the key from emitting a signal (I.e. which would could then be cloned by a thief). Any ideas anyone?

Keys only emit a signal if it receives a signal from the car (or pressing a button), and therefore performing the action in the manual will stop a relay attack.

However, I believe the keys sleep after a few minutes of no movement so it is unnecessary.
