Hi all, does anyone know of a video tutorial or can tell me how to open the dash to install a replacement analogue clock in th center of the dash

Not sure. But noticed as of late, mine is not keeping the time accurately. It’s 3-15 minutes wrong (behind) depending how long it’s been since it was last driven. 

Why are you looking to replace it @Ndoody?

Because it keeps dropping roughly two hours every 24 ..and I don't know how to fix, I presume it's broken. I had read the clock can be an issue

I have done this. Not to replace the clock but the ac vent as mine had broken fins. But i had to pull out the clock to fit it to the new vent. It requires you to dismantle the entire centre console. Look for videos on installing car play etc. That should help you remove the radio and ac units. Then you need to undo 4 screws on the underside of the ac vents and pull it out. But before you pull it out you need to also loosen the panel with the hood above the instrument cluster and starter button cover as the ac vent is sort of hooked on to it. I've noticed the same thing with time keeping... Could the 12v Battery be on its way out?

Maybe, I didn't think about that. Do you recommend any brand of 12v Battery and would you install yourself or got to dealership?? Thanks for your help. @agent_dess

Most people here use the original as aftermarket options are rare given the lexus uses an AGM type Battery thats smaller than usual. Personally i have a regular yuasa lead acid Battery officially on the yuasa site they dont really have an option for the is300h but i guess the previous owner / garage of my car managed to find one that fits. I have never had a problem leaving it parked for even a month. But the original one should be good too as long as you use the car regularly

Thought this. And could be, but I’ve ruled it out for now.

Changed my 12v in June 2020 when I noticed the car wouldn’t start on some occasions. “Shift lever into P” error message.

No clock issues back then, none whatsoever.

I notice time keeping issues nowadays, even after a trickle charge back to full.

Never say never but I’m not convinced it’s the 12v at this stage.

Not sure of the implications and I don’t have detailed understanding of the science. But I can tell you what research has taught me.

“AGM batteries are designed to require 14.6v – 14.8v when performing a full charge from a state of discharge, whereas standard lead acid batteries need 13.8v – 14.4v”

Presumably the car is charging the 12v Battery at 14.6-14.8v but you have a standard lead acid expecting no more than 14.4v. 

I prefer the AGM on this basis. But you have presumably had no drastic issues using a standard one. So maybe it’s OK. Thankfully my AGM from LPD was £115 delivered back in June 2020. Sadly, not so cheap last time I looked.

Had it been up to me. I probably would've gone with the original as well but the car came this way when i bought it and i havent had any issues yet. Also we have a honda jazz with a yuasa and that thing has been going strong for 6 years now. So im happy to stick with the yuasa for now they seem like a good brand (japanese). I will probably change my car before the Battery dies anyway.
