Cleaning Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I like to have a nice clean windscreen, but have never found an ideal internal cleaner for the glass, any recommendations?

Also, what's best for cleaning the grey plastic wheel arch surrounds? I tend to get polish on them when polishing the car and it looks a mess; but tyre and trim cleaning stuff I've got doesn't get it off.

I can't help you with the clean windscreen question I'm afraid as I find a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth and standard glass cleaner works for me.

With regards to the wheel arch surrounds (and all of the other bits of black trim) I use "Bouncers Dress To Impress". It goes on smooth; there's no "sling" and a bottle lasts a long time.

As Andy above, I find a simple microfibre cloth and glass cleaner (I use Meguiar's) give streak-free finish.

With regards to the polish, do you mean polish (as in an abrasive paint correction paste) or a wax (final coating gloss and protectant)? Either way some diluted APC and a soft bristle brush should work, remove it quickly though. Be careful too strong a solution could bleach the trim. There are proprietary products specifically to do this. A quick Google should bring results. Detailers use panel prep wipes.

I'd suggest once you have it removed, switching to products that don't leave residues on plastic trim. Meguiar's some good stuff

Its may sound silly, but it works for me.
Breathe on the windscreen so it mists up slightly the wipe away with a microfibre dusting glove. Apart from a clear screen you can get into the corners having your hand flat and you can get your fingers int here. 😏

Good evening,

I have tried many different glass cleaners, an American one which i stumbled across in TK Maxx is the best i have ever used. Made by a firm called Stoner, it's called Invisible Glass,😭 but works a treat and is available online.👍

Best wishes, Steve.
