4 days from new and my LBX fails to start, though the key works at locking and unlocking. Touching the key to the start button works, but the spare key will only lock/ unlock, but not start the car even when touched to the start button.

My wife’s key failed after about 3 weeks new Battery sorted it but she had put the key on the charging pad while driving 🤨. So I presume that’s what affected it

There is potential for the 12v Battery to go flat as Ryan has said above.   This is NOT the key fob Battery.   You have to be very careful with leaving it switched on unless it’s in READY mode.  It will go flat in a matter of minutes if you are listening to the radio or even messing about with the door open.
