USB drive format

Since cars have stopped having CD changers (yes, I'm old enough to remember those) I have used USB drives to store and play music / drama on the go.

Most recently this has been on micro SD cards, but the LBX I'm expecting on December doesn't have the necessary slot for that.  I've bought a USB C drive (neater than using an adaptor), but stupidly I bought a 64GB one before I read the manual which says the LBX can handle a maximum of 32GB.

I have read somewhere that formatting the USB drive using FAT32 will address this issue, and my 64GB drive will play just fine in the car.  Before I do this - anyone  already done it and been successful?  Any other advice?

I can buy a 32GB drive of course.  But I'd rather like to use the one I've already bought if I can.

In my LBX, I use a 64gb usb formatted to fat32 using the free program Rufus. Windows can only format 64gb usb to exfat32 which is no use.

Cool tip - hadn't thought of using Rufus, many thanks.

Rufus is normally used to format drives for Linux so is great for anything not Windows related.

I've only ever used it for making bootable Windows install drives before! Every day's a school day :-)

I have exactly the same problem.  I originally had a 16gb USB stick and used a converter to plug it into the USB C socket in the LBX.  It worked but sometimes dissapeared from the screen until I unplugged it and plugged it back in again.  I've bought a USB C data storage which would be much neater in the car.  I transferred all my music across and it plays in my computer but when I plug it in the car it doesn't show up on the sources. Anyone else had this problem and can help.  Thanks
