2006 RX350 Transmission - Independent garage

Hi,  I have a 2006 RX 350 (not hybrid) with c75k miles on the clock.  I've had it for a couple of years of trouble-free motoring.  However, it has now gone on strike.  I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty sure that if the car insists on moving forwards when reverse gear has been selected, there's a problem with the auto transmission.

Does anybody have recommendations for a trusted independent garage to fix it, in the North West London (Uxbridge-Watford- Ruislip) neck of the woods, that would be excellent.

Advice gratefully appreciated.

Hi Richard,

I'm in Ruislip, over the years have heard good reports ( not directly myself ) Japex Automotive  Garage Services in Kings Langley, seems to have expertise in particular Lexus.

I use the Lexus service centre  for my servicing Chalfont St Giles (CMG) for several years  pretty sure they will work independently of Lexus say for an older car, have found them knowledgeable when I had a problem, Amanda in service always helpful & have not charged me to look at / diagnose a problem when I had an issue with my tailgate.

You need an auto box specialist not a general mechanic, no matter how good they are.

It may be a Lexus but because it's not a hybrid it's just like any other petrol-driven auto. Plumbers for plumbing work; electricians for electrical work; aircon specialists for aircon work and so on.

Just thinking.   Has your usual mechanic ( you do have one ?) ever checked/ refreshed/ changed the gearbox oils …….. it might be that causing this hiccup for you 

Have you asked him ? And generally about this issue 

just a thought before you go chasing down a potentially very expensive rabbit warren

+1 for Japex. If they can't do it, I'm sure they can point you at a specialist...
