Given the LBX tank only holds 35 litres I thought I would give super-unleaded fuel a go for the extra £5 a tank. So far I am impressed as the engine seems quieter, smoother and more responsive. The consensus is you need to fill with super-unleaded three times before assessing any benefit and if you don't notice a difference then go back to regular. Will report back after doing so. Anybody else tried it or willing to give it a go?

for comparison maybe 🤔 ……. it’s well documented with the Ls400 forums that using E5 petrol ( usually ) results in better cost value with improved mpg / £ of E5 fuel cost over using normal unleaded

……. let alone pure performance quality continuance and engine management …….. which is usually quite noticeable on the Ls

I’ve used super for years now over many cars and I’ve always noticed better running and better mpg. Used v power for a long time but Esso E5 makes the engine run even smoother and quieter. This helps as the direct injection engines aren’t the smoothest.

Thanks. I have always used 97+ octane petrol in my cars as their 'sport' nature requires it. Although the ECU compensates for different fuels it does tend to dial back performance as the octane level drops. All my cars have run better on Super and I also found my diesel Range Rover performed better with premium fuel for different reasons.

Not thought of the direct injection implications.
