LV not insuring CT 200h

Just received an email from LV, who have 2 of my Lexus insured. They upped my insurance on both by hundreds of pounds last time round. Part of the rise in cost for the ST was because the catalytic converter was stolen almost 2 years ago. Now they are saying they have decided they will no longer offer insurance on this model 'owing to it being frequently stolen' not stolen from I noticed. They suggest contacting their 'partner's Gallagher to find possible insurers.

Anyone else in this boat. They weren't bothered when they took £695 renewal last November. Or when they took £1185 to cover the RX.

Based on other posts here it seems LV aren't willing to insure Lexus vehicles any more (to at least some people) - they don't seem to care which models are vulnerable to theft and have grouped them all together, so even though the CT isn't vulnerable, they won't insure it.

Best to just take your custom for all your vehicles elsewhere.

Hi Ian

I had the same circumstances with LV.

Been a loyal(?) customer for over 40 years with no claims whatsoever and out of the blue comes an email saying they are declining renewal on my CT F Sport.

When I called to question the decision, I was told the reasons were high repair costs and theft. My car is 11 years old and garaged, so I think the risks are pretty low as I live on a farm in Sussex.

I was also told by the LV rep on the phone that they are also refusing to insure some types of Honda Jazz .............!!!!!!!

Also have an NX F Sport which LV are happy to continue insuring, but again, when I approached them for a quote to change my CT insurance to a 2 year old RX 450H they also declined.

Finally got my CT insured through AXA at a cost similar to last year.

Regards

Ray
