Water leak in drivers pillar

Recommended Posts

I have a Lexus rx450h with a fixed Panasonic roof.

following the recent heavy rains i have seen damp patches at the top of the drivers pillar which i assume is coming from the pan roof joint.

is there a drain point here?

is the pan roof susceptible to leaks as i have never had one in six years

I have a 2006 RX400h which had a few leaks in it. The sunroof was one of them where the leaks can be caused by blocked drainage (see videos on youtube) and show up in the roof fabric inside either at the front or middle pillars. In the end I went to a specialist firm near Chelmsford that just deals with leaks. They fixed all of them - they do smoke tests and insert cameras, etc. It wasn't cheap, but everything was resolved after months of doing my own investigations and taking to various dealers / garages. This was about 4 years ago and no recurrences since.

Thanks i understand that blockages are prevalent with the drainage ports available for moving sunroofs. My roof is a fixed Panasonic roof it does not open and i cannot find any drain channels to unblock.

Sorry I should learn to read 🙂  The specialist I mentioned is still worth a look as a fixed roof should be much easier to diagnose than the various leaks I had. You could try Captain Tolley's creeping crack cure, but probably won't work if that much water is coming through.
