This certainly seems the case because my dealer cannot source a single one which hasn't been allocated!

I have ordered one.

Well there was one, which mysteriously disappeared from the system!

I had the go ahead from Motibility to have one before they remove it from the scheme.

You could ring round chains of dealers. There may be the car you want.

I needed a UX of certain colour and trim. There were none on the Lexus System, there was one in the showroom of the first dealer I rang that had been 'sold' but without a deposit being taken and had been removed from the Lexus system.

In the latest financial year, Motability Operations made a profit of £560 million and donated a further £170 million to the Motability Charity. Together, these sums equate to £1,150 for every Motability customer. The net assets of Motability Operations increased in the past year to £2.88 billion.

There is a near neighbour to me who has a mobility car which is replaced every so many years and from the time it is delivered to the time it is replaced I have never seen it move from under the car port. I have occasionally seen one of the relatives start it up and leave it running for a while probably to keep the Battery charged up but that’s as far as it goes.

That may explain in this case why Mobility make such huge profits when they sell 3 year old used mobility cars with delivery mileage only!

There is little official information regarding Mobility UK past 2020 but I assume the main, maybe sole, shareholders are still the major UK banks..

How it can be described as a “Non Profit Organisation” when run by banks is a contradiction in term.

The banks have given up their entitlement to dividends. Hence any surplus is gifted to the Motability charity. A non profit organisation can still generate a surplus (when income exceeds expenditure).

individuals with certain benefits are able to give up their cash benefit in exchange for a car. I have said previously that it’s frankly quite miraculous that Motability can provide quite expensive cars, tax them, maintain them, and insure them all for this relatively small cash payment… and still generate a healthy surplus. It should be noted their recent surpluses have partly been a result of used car values increasing - they had assumed a certain level of depreciation, and instead cars are worth more when sold - at which point that extra gain shows up as part of their profit and surplus.
