Looking to buy ISF

Hey all!

First post, been keeping eyes on the ISF market since the start of the year when my obsession with the car started. I have driven one (2010) and decided I would definitely like to purchase moving forward. I was just wondering if anyone in here is looking to sell, I am well aware of any that have been for sale in last 3-4 months as I check daily. I missed out on a black 2011 UK car with 60k miles for £18k which was frustrating but I wasnt in the country!

Anywayyy long story short, Im after an ISF 2010+ open to any colour, mileage etc. I also have an open hunt ongoing with torque GT to import an example, basically whichever happens first! Thanks

I have viewed and driven this one https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202409053675209?fromSavedAds=true&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=relevance (attached pic too for future reference). The car was in OK condition not great for the asking price at the moment in my opinion, FLSH is always a good thing but the general condition of the car does not reflect a £23k car with the current state of the market. I know USB fetch a premium and a mail dealer but still. I saw a USB sit for 18 months at less than that! (£18-19k) (not main dealer etc. I know)

also im under the impression as with most cars , over 100k seems near impossible to shift unless for big loss. This is something im taking into consideration with my search, any wisdom on that would be great. Im so excited to get one.

I thought the same when I saw it for sale, bit overpriced at £23k. Even in the pictures you could see one of the exhaust tips was coming off.

Clearly someone disagrees though as it’s been sold 😅

I tried to get a deal going with them but they were not very quick to talk to communicate with me, not sure why! I don't think it would've sold for the full asking price to be honest. And they're more kean to take lower offer if you use their finance!

Following on with my hunt , everyday I check the usual places , eBay, AutoTrader etc but not usually Facebook and there I have seen something which might reflect current values! 114k mile 09 white , granted not the best nick, few scuffs and wheels need a refurb but under £14k list price... I have attached pics for reference.

It also has a FLSH bar 1 service at independent garage, could it be a good buy?

First facelift in a while just got listed on Autotrader:

No photos yet, but might be one to keep an eye on. I think it's a bit expensive at the moment, but with a bit off the price could be a nice car.

For reference, as you've mentioned importing, I'm in the process with TorqueGT myself. It's a 2012, Mercury Grey, Option Wheels on just over 50k Miles - gonna be about £19,500 or so.

So you can definitely get a cleaner, higher spec, lower mileage car for less money if you're willing to import; just be mindful of the resale value a few years down the line of course.

£19500 sounds a very good price, maybe too good?  What would the total cost be delivered and registered on the road in the UK?  I think the biggest advantage on an import would be the lack of rust, but I believe there are a few little headaches getting things changed to English spec and then there's an insurance premium BUT a road tax saving..... and so on

The issue with an import will always be the gamble on a car that's £20k and you haven't seen it in person or test driven it. Personally I've never fancied that but it works for some. I'm a little OCD so I have to see the car and drive it, feel it, hear it, before I part ways with money, purely because I know what I want when I'm looking to buy and you most certainly can find the right car here, but the key is waiting and being prepared to.

If however you gamble and go for it, you can find some gems. Fortunately for the ISF, rust isn't that much of an issue due to the plastic trims underneath, there are few rust horror stories with this chassis and Lexus generally.

The upside of an import is the tax, but again, the downside is the resale value and limited insurance options. 

Lots to consider but having both options is a good place to be.

Looking at the reg and description it’s the same one the was for sale at Lexus Carlisle a month back, just for £1,500 more
