Lexus RX400h energy monitor.

Recommended Posts

Lexus RX400h energy monitor. In the past 2 weeks on 3 occasions when starting the car the energy monitor does not respond, it only shows the status but with no bars. After approx. 1 minute everything comes to life, green bars, functionality etc. It always starts, the 12v Battery is now 4yrs old any ideas?

I also have acquired another RX400h recently and the energy monitor is not fully functional (it was working on purchase), No controls for the Nav, AC, Climate, audio controls on Nav screen, when pressing buttons I get "The external system is not connected" and "Check connection of the air conditioner".

I went into the service check mode and only EMV was OK, all the others (Navi, Camera, Radio etc) had NCON, so I cleared all the codes and now there is only EMV OK in the menu. I have checked the fuses, disconnected the Battery and is being fully charged atm.

I can change all the audio controls vol, bal, tre etc from the head unit but most if not all the Nav screens functions are not working, yet I can get into the menu using DISP + 3 on/off sidelights procedure.

Anybody else had "The external system is not connected" and "Check connection of the air conditioner" errors?

Could it be that the 12v batteries on both cars are beginning to fail or is it something more sinister.

I posted on the RX forum and was told to post on the audio/video forum as I may get a better response. Thanks.

Sorry I can't advise on your pictures and no-one else is replying

If it were my car, the next stop would be to book a hybrid check with your lexus dealer.....I think they cost in the region of £90. That would give you a good idea of any problem, and might give the Battery a year's warranty if all is good or repaired.....although I understand this is depends on the age/milage if the car

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.....

Hi Jim, thanks for the advice.
After many hours searching the net I found some similar posts on the US sites and somebody mentioned that you can't leave certain signals unplugged (mainly TX+ and TX-), so after disconnecting the after market parking sensors and disabling all Bluetooth devices I spliced the TX wires to the TMX wires and hey presto everything came back alive.

Perseverance was the key as I'm not very good with electronics but I got the head unit manuals and identified the connections and tried my best.

After your suggestion of posting on Audio/video forum, some unhelpful person responded (presumed deleted by Admin) that I shouldn't merge topics and "we" don't like duplicate threads.
Goes to show that every positive is met with an equal negative.
