LBX reprimands!

Recommended Posts

My wife has been told off twice by our LBX in the last couple of days. First time, whilst fiddling with various settings, she got a message on the HUD telling her she was not concentrating on driving and to stop mucking about!

Today she started driving and slipped on a pair of sunglasses at which point the LBX told her she was an "unrecognised driver" and reeled off a list of functions that were no longer available. She took the sunglasses off and everything returned to normal but putting the glasses on again reactivated the alerts. She thinks the car is completely bonkers!

Our other two cars are a 1963 E-Type Jaguar roadster (still capable of 150mph; did it on the Millbrook bowl) and an air-cooled 1997 Porsche 911 (aka 993). The former has no electronic aids whatsoever and the latter just has ABS. It does have IRA and ISC both of which I admire immensely:

IRA = Intelligent Rev Assistance (big rev counter in the middle and centre of dash)

ISC = Innovative Speed Cloaking (your right hand on the wheel obscures the speedo above 50 mph)

Different times!

Typical thing to hate about new cars. They feel restrictive in that aspect.. whether it's justified by safety or not, it's becoming annoying. I had a courtesy car a couple of weeks ago when I went in for a full service and that UX was awful. I tried to turn off as much as possible, but it ruined the drive for me.
