We have a new arrival due this week (a baby not a Lexus!).

On test-fitting the Isofix car seat on the rear leather seats (2016 NX300h Premier) it looked like it could start to stretch or de-form the leather seats.

Does anyone know if / how I should protect the leather from damage? I was thinking about the leather care kit that I bought with vehicle, and possibly a thin blanket, but wondered if the leather is tough enough to not need this?

Thank you in advance,

Arne

We used a seat protector/pad from the child seat manufacturer. Just a robust padding that spreads the load more evenly across the seat, so protecting the leather from point pressure. Worked well. Must be many available from places that sell child seats or online, amazon?

Congratulations on your impending new arrival.

I often have to fit child seats in my NX for the grandkids so I purchased the following seat protector from amazon. It's easy to put on and remove and has done the job for me.

I also use that amazon protector, along with a piece of yoga mat underneath. Never any marks or indentations

Thank you all, much appreciated. I agree point pressure seems to be the issue, but now I know how to prevent that. I'd never heard of such a gizmo, but can see why they exist!

I use an old bedsheet along with an old rubber floor mat under the seat i do not use anything behind and its been fine so far.

I haven't put anything down - we are nearly 3 years in. The good thing with Lexus is that they use real leather in their top tier models. When we take the seats out the leather returns after a few days. A little heat from a hair dryer can help too.

Thanks Dylan. My car is 2 years older than yours and the lines on the leather looked quite noticeable after a brief trial-fit. I am not brave enough to try it without some form of protection, so I am now using the Amazon-sourced seat protector that was recommended earlier in this thread.
