New AutoExpress Lexus NX review

Recommended Posts

A new AutoExpress review of the Lexus NX dropped yesterday: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/lexus/nx

Still very positive. I did find it odd they criticise the cost of the plug-in hybrid 450h+ versions - given it's several thousand cheaper than equivalent Audi/BMW/Mercedes options...  otherwise seems a fair review!

Personally, I find they always bang on about the CVT gearbox being noisy, I came from decades of traditional automatic gearboxes and it has been no issue!  I literally hear no difference when I switch from electric to petrol power

It’s not an issue in everyday driving, although it does make quite a racket if you plant your foot fully down on the accelerator (certainly more than my previous DSG diesel car!). But the ecvt on these cars is quieter than the traditional cvt of old, and reviewers don’t seem to always understand the ecvt is different to a cvt.

It’s just lazy journalism. The reviewer latches on to comments made by some journalist many moons ago and feels that “to be in the know” he has to echo those same comments. He doesn’t understand why but he’s too scared to be the one to break the mould.

Journalists are lazy, most reports tend to be a plagiarism on someone’s else’s lazy report. It’s a never ending spiral!
