All wheel alignment, is it worth doing ?

Recommended Posts

I’m about to have a new front tyre fitted . Is it worth having the alignment done ? Just the front 2 or all 4 ? Also , do NXers out there agree the front passenger side tyre wears down  faster than the driver side because of “ going round roundabouts clockwise “ ?

Don't know about that but yes, get it done. My NX300h had abnormal wear on new tyres because the tracking was right out.

I had two new rear tyres replaced last year because they had worn badly on the inside rims , would alignment prevent that from happening again ? The cost appears to be around £90 for 4 wheels . Thanks for reply and advice

If tyre wear is normal I wouldn't bother.

I am thinking about getting all 4 wheels checked on our other car as rear tyre wear seems uneven.

I had to replace 2 tyres due to uneven wear on my previous car which was a three year old Gen 4 RX 450h.  Mileage was only around 12,000 miles. So yes, I would recommend it - was relatively cheap compared to the cost of the new tyre.

I believe it would help prevent the abnormal wear yes. Seems that alignment is often ignored when it can so easily be knocked out by potholes, kerbing, even regular speed bumps.

Just had 2 fronts replaced at the dealership, I asked the question about getting the tracking checked, they told me if the wear is even over the entire tyre (which is was) not to bother, only get it checked if you've got uneven wear.

I tried to get the tracking and castor checked on my 450h after having new wishbones but no one (including the dealership) had the gen 2 NX on the computer to have the specs. Ended up with a print out from the tech documents in the workshop and manually checked if it was in spec

However I was told that if I had the rear alignment changed I would need to go back to Lexus to get the LTA calibrated so it might be worth checking before having all wheels done
