Sending messages using Apple Carplay

Recommended Posts

Is anyone having problems sending messages in apple Carplay? Newer versions of Apples IOS seem to have changed the way Siri works and it doesn't seem to interact well with the LBX. Instead of saying back the message you have said it has a fit and sometimes says "I cannot show you that while you are in the car" which is a bit counterproductive.

I have only had my LBX for about 4 weeks but I am having this problem on apple car play. It will read messages, but when you ask Siri to reply, you dictate your reply but the Siri just goes silent, then just says "it says.... it says..." on a loop until you just have to turn it off. I have also had "I cant show you that as you are in the car".  I have tried restarting my phone, even updated the phone to the new iOS but it hasn't made a difference.  I'm having various problems with the Lexus Link + app not functioning properly so I guess it's some kind of software problem? I've called the dealer and it's booked in for the 30th to have a look at it.  Its really annoying and and spoiling my experience so far, everything worked fine on my previous Mercedes GLC so im pretty sure its the car and not my phone 😵‍💫

The Lexus Link+ App is basically a waste of time for me, nothing really works, it hardly ever connects to the car, if I try and open the car it says I cant because it was locked with a key! The brochure said I can start the heated seats and steering wheel but there is no option on my app, only to set a temp, which most of the time doesn't work as it says it cant connect to the car. So seems pointless.  It also said I could unlock the car with my phone but there is not even an option in my app. I sent a message via the app feedback but haven't had a reply, and like I said is going to the dealer on 30th so hopefully they can resolve it? It's definitely putting me off Lexus and ruining what was supposed to be an exciting purchase. I have not had these problems with other "premium" cars.

  • 1 month later...

Also having this mental issue with looping messages when you try reply and then same as others sometimes saying your in a car so can’t do that. Brand new and had a few issues with this now. It’s in tomorrow for the boot issue so will ask them to see if any updates for the firmware. Can’t have any issues anytime apple updates something.

So I still have no resolution to my issues as previous described, but the dealer says they have contacted Lexus UK who knew straight away about my problems and that they would be sorted with an over air update to the car, but that they couldn't tell me when it was going to be sent out and could be December? but no definite date as yet, and its still doing it.  My app issues are still also ongoing and apparently they are going to try and replace the  "control module" but this is on order and is not expected to arrive until December as well!

My general experience of Lexus is now don't bother and buy another brand as I have never had such a buggy car, even the Range Rover was better than this. Once its sorted I think I will be looking at something more reliable
