Lexus LS430 - Timing Belt/Water Pump Replacement Parts List

After my car's recent annual service, I’ve decided to replace the timing belt and water pump ahead of schedule, even though they’re not due until next year. In addition to the usual parts, I thought it would be a good idea to replace the drive belt and its associated components, as the drive belt has been changed every five years, but the related parts haven’t been replaced in over two decades. So I ordered and received the following parts now.

Purchased the parts from various sites - lexuspartsdirect.co.uk, Amayama.com, roughtrax4x4.com. 

Parts cost :  £750.00  (Drive belt and associated parts are included - £200)

Labour Cost : TBD (£550?)

 Work Stream Planned: (Since it's been more than 2 decades, just replace the parts where ever possible)

1	Replace Timing Belt, tensioner and pulley
2	Replace Water Pump, gaskets
3	Replace Serpentine belt, pulley and tensioner
4	Replace Thermostat with gasket
5	Clean off the cam and crank sensors if possible, replace parts of crankshaft if possible

 

Just wondering do we have to replace any other parts or perform any other work during this mega work?  Did I miss any items?

If you’re  doing the job just once, then I think you could add crankshaft and camshaft oil seals 👍🏻

I had read prior it’s up to an 8hr job for an experienced mechanic …… the labour charge might need rethinking ! 
 

And the Radiator replacement every 100k miles / 10 years possibly 🤔

@Bob King  Thanks for the message. There’s no oil leak, so I’m a bit hesitant about replacing the camshaft oil seals. However, I'll ask my mechanic to inspect the following items and only replace them if it's absolutely necessary.

@Malc1 Thanks, The radiator was replaced in January 2020, so we still have a few more years before it needs attention again !😀

8hrs 😮…does that include dinner and tea breaks 😉

Probably a 4-5 hr job for someone who does them regular .

I have been thinking the same - 4 to 5 hour job.

The spark plugs are due for replacement next year, but would it be worth including them in this service? With the extra space around the engine during this job, would it make the replacement easier than usual? If it’s going to cost extra time and money, I’ll just wait until next year.

Top plastic engine cover and air filter box has to come off to do the spark plugs, easy to do at a later date.

Spark Plugs are good for 60k between changes I believe.

Yes, the spark plugs were replaced exactly 9 years ago at 65K miles, and with the car now at 120K miles, they’re due for replacement next year.

I was thinking modern day plugs might be good for 100k miles nowadays  ??

I agree with you, these iridium plugs may be good for 80k to 100k miles. So I can delay the spark plugs replacement for couple of years !😀
