Still feeling my way after only six months of 450h ownership (2018….37k miles) and a crap year on the health front (stroke…..sabugger), I am becoming more familiar with its idiot syncracies. One minor gripe is the gear selector. Moving it from P to D is wan helluva cheap, nasty experience compared to other luxury cars I have both had and driven occasionally.  The wee lever seems to clunk and clatter its way along at a very non luxury feel. Is there some kind of adjustable cabling system involved or is it “just the way it is, sir”….?
Do not misunnerstaun my Scottish gripefulness……really like the car. In for service next week, so wife currently trudging the streets.

My shift became similarly flaky and the dealer opened up the console and lubricated the entire mechanism, then after a few days driving to move the lubrication around it was back to it's normal feel.

As my car had same problem of clunky selector I requested Lexus to  lubricate selector mechanism at last service

On collection service receptionist said mechanic had "lubricated cable under car"  ( I did not know there was a cable connection between selector and gearbox)

Three weeks later and there unfortunately is no improvement. Possibly have to go elsewhere than Lexus to get a proper job done!!!
