During a routine inspection, my garage detected noise coming from a rear wheel bearing and recommended replacing rear wheel hub assembly. When I asked whether both sides needed replacement, they advised that only the problematic side requires attention, and there's no need to replace both. Considering all other parts are over 20 years old, I thought it might be better to replace other small components as well.

My questions are,

1. Should we also replace the DEFLECTOR, REAR WHEEL BEARING DUST, NO.2 (Dust Cover)?

2. Garage recommends to do Wheel Alignment as well. Is it required?

Planning to order the following parts:

From what I've gathered in forums, it's advisable to have the Dust cover on hand just in case it's needed. There have been cases where it broke during replacement, so having a spare is a precaution. If the mechanic doesn't use it, I should be able to return it to Lexus.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your experience or thoughts on this. Thanks a lot!

I just spoke with Lexus, and since it’s an older part, the return policy doesn't apply. So we have to use the part or keep it as a spare.

Have you considered buying the parts from Lexus Parts Direct who may offer a discount or Amayama which are genuine but generally cheaper even taking VAT into account?

Take the wheel off and examine the dust cover. If it needs replacing it should be pretty obvious.

Thanks @steve2006. Yes, I am ordering all these parts from Amayama. How ever, they don't have dust cover in stock and ETA is in Nov/December.  That is bit long wait.

Thanks George, will look into this option as well.
