Yes I’ll check those things and go through all the invoices as it has quite a big history file.

Perhaps I should see this one too.

£4350. MOT history looks to be ok and only in Manchester.

Lovely....not sure about those rims though.

They look terrible 🤣

It’s been round the world 3 more times than the black one, looks ok though and at that price I can perhaps forgive the rims.

Those seem to be the factory 5 spokes, only powder-coated black.
£400 for a strip/re-coat and they are once again silver.

Yes I noticed that… I really should go and look.  There’s also the silver one at Individual Cars. 60k.  Looks nice, however I get the impression the forum may think I’m nuts shelling out this much for an LS? BRM just enquired if I was still interested about the black one so I asked re cam belt and pump. Will check other stuff if I go back.  If I don't do this I keep the MX which is really rather nice and we get a CRV, I’d rather avoid that.

To conclude this thread it appears I maybe be buying an ISF, I’m going to look at one next week and have put a  small deposit down to hold the car. Nick

Could be an excellent decision, but watch out for the road tax £800pa approx.

Yes it’s currently £735…….. however my MX5 is currently £335 and the Sharan £210 (crazy the MX is more than the Shaz) so my man brain economics kind of make it acceptable as the Honda Jazz we’re buying for city duties is only £35 per year.  Also I’ve been paying a Mazda Service plan of £24 a month so I’m kind of in the same figure.  Also the MX only does a combined of less than 32 MPG so if i get 22 out of the ISF I’ll be happy for a few years yet.

I’m aware these cars days are possibly numbered but I’ve been drawn in by the fabulous engine, reliability and the rarity of the car.  It also helps I have Dave at Lextek nearby.

I’ve mentioned this before but I live on a street with a few Teslas, Kia’s, lots of little runabouts and unfortunately I care what people think about buying big V8 cars, at least the Jazz has a tiny wheezy 1.3 engine.

That said if I have my figures right the petrol Euro 4 standards make my Euro 5 Shaz dirtier than the ISF, plus I dont do more than 5000 miles a year.  Like many on here I’m an enthusiast and as you can see I’m trying to justify as I type!

All the best

Nick

Just FYI  I think the tax in the budget has gone up to £760 if you pay annually. and I am currently averaging  ( displayed on the dash ) 24.7mpg from the ISF, driving carefully with the occasional mad acceleration just for fun.

One of the nice things about the ISF is that very few people know what it is so it rarely attracts any attention ( until you get past 3800rpm on full throttle - yippee! ).  Most people think it's a wheezy hybrid with evil CVT gearing.

Just last week I had a snide comment from an acquaintance about me running an olde worlde dinosaur of a car.
Apparently I should be ashamed of myself, and him having spent £45k on an all electric car (Peugeot E-3008) makes him a superior human being to me,.... so I started to explain to him about limited resources, about the real cost of recycling vs reusing, about open-cast lithium mines, about the fact that his car probably would not last the 21 years mine has already lasted, about the fact that I only spent £4400 seven years ago on my dinosaur, about the fact that I work from home and probably produce less total annual greenhouse gases than he does due to my low annual mileage, and finally about the fact that he was a self important little ****hole who could **** off and die for all I cared.
So, he's no longer speaking to me, which is a relief. 🤣
A friend who overheard the brief altercation got a stitch from laughing after the ****hole stormed off. 😁
Ella thought I was a little harsh, but she smiled when she said it. ❤️

No one in my sphere understands how or why I run an Ls400 ……. which I’ve been doing for about 27 years now …. they just think I’m a tad eccentric and must have buckets of £££££££ in the bank coz of my weird frugality …… nothing weird about 4ltr V8 limo comfort with impeccable reliability methinks …… maybe it’s just a little envy …… but none of it worries me one jot 😂🤣💥

Frugality and buckets of £££££ in the bank …….. hahahaha maybe eh 🤔

Well said  My thoughts exactly. And I'm not anti new electric cars. If someone wants one then get one but don't try and say you're doing it to save the planet.

And not sure exactly what a Peugeot E-3008 is but it should last until the end of the 3 year warranty. Maybe.

Because it's just a better car and much nicer to drive than these electric dodgems.

You'll occasionally get someone who drops a snide or ill-informed remark when you run anything old and/or interesting. Amazing how many people think that newer=better without understanding what they're looking at. I realise I'm the odd one out in most settings, but some of my friends at least humour the concept of why my daily driver is nearly old enough to vote.

Bangernomics is a word that I hate now. Not the concept, I admire the self-control in bangernomics. But the word, simply because one mate thinks that anyone with an older car is doing "bangernomics". I swear one day he'll use it when discussing a million-pound fully-restored classic with some beards at a car show and get himself hurt.

On balance, I accidentally had dropped the snide/ill-informed remark when a mate got his brand new Skoda. I needed to run indoors to help with my kid, so rushed out something like "well, if you aren't really into your cars then it makes sense to have something like this that does the job". I'd meant it in the sense "this is reliable and competent and you aren't going to spend several weekends a year swearing at this thing with scraped knuckles because it's new!", but it came across as "harumph, clearly you are NOT a car guy and therefore I look down my nose at you". Gushed suitably about it next time I saw him, of course!

Absolutely right. They just don't get it do they?  I have tried these new electric things and just don't want one. I am very happy with my old ISF - more then happy!   My son got a new Skoda Octavia as a company car and we had a ride in it. What an underwhelming experience. Gets from A to B but don't want to go to B if the journey is so boring. I suppose it all depends if you are a car enthusiast who appreciates character.

I've just bought my 3rd 430 and have been driving the LS since 2005.

These cars ooze quality and I get a reall buzz from that!

1) The paint and chrome work still gleams after 20 years

2) The shape and interior still looks very modern

3) The interior materials are the best quality unlike fake leather these days

For me the 430 was the flagship and still look forward driving mine as if its my first day with it!

True, but I came across like a knob when I said it... At least I think I did. It felt broadly equivalent to a mate bringing his new girlfriend to my house, me looking her up and down and saying "I prefer pretty girls, personally". 🫢

@Avantime  congratulations on the purchase of an ISF, personally I’d  love  one..

As  for the tax,, I have a Forester XT that is in the same  tax bracket, (remapped, 300 torques)  but I don’’t care,  it  lives with an  LS400 (luxo barge) Jazz (run about) 911 Turbo  (scared ****less,  600 whp)) and Reliant Scimitar SE6A with a 1UZFE engine ((classic car),  so getting something  that  makes you smile  is  very important.

Enjoy the ISF,, as I say, I’d  love one..

Quite a unique collection you have there, loving the Scimitar and my wife was pleased to see the Jazz poking out there.
