LEXUS RX 400H OIL CONSUMPTION

Recommended Posts

Hello, I own a lexus rx 400h and recently the check oil light on my dashboard came on. I stopped on the right and checked the oil dipstick, which was at the minimum. As far as I remember, I had put a 5w30 oil from liqui molly. The former owner told me that the engine only used 1 liter per change and that the problem was that I didn't put the right one, namely 0w20 from Toyota.Since i've bought the car i drived it for around 6000 km. Have you ever encountered this problem of oil consumption from 3 mz fe? Could it really be because of the 5w30 oil I put on it?
Also, someone told me about replacing the "oil feed line".

Older cars often use a bit of oil.

Not a major problem generally as long as you check the oil level and top up regularly.

Presume that you don't have an oil leak??

5w30 is fine for that engine, in fact I'm not sure 0w20 was originally a recommended grade when the vehicle was new, although it was possibly retrospectively added later. If it is consuming 5w30 oil then it will certainly consume 0w20, probably more because it is thinner.

If you haven't got a leak then ideally you want to known how the oil is being consumed. Valve guides, piston rings, excessive oil pressure etc.
