Nextbase 380Gwx dash cam

Recommended Posts

Hi. Can anyone please help. I had the Nextbase 380GWX dash cam fitted yesterday by Lexus.  Today I had a play around with the Nextbase cam app. But all I can see are videos from the front view.  I tried looking at all the information on Nextbase site, but it’s not very good. So before I start moaning to Lexus, can anyone help me out. Is it the app that’s no good? Or something else. Thanks

Not wanting to state the obvious, but have they fitted the rear camera?  I only had the front one fitted and the app works fine from the times I have used it. Mainly to disable the awful startup/shutdown racket.

I have a similar setup and can view both cameras. Unfortunately I rarely use them so am not an expert.

Not sure if this helps....

Cam Viewer - Live View and PiP
With your Dash Cam successfully connected, you will be able to see the live image your Dash Cam is
seeing by using the Live View Screen on the Cam Viewer app.
With a Rear Camera attached, you will be able to see the live image from both the Front Facing Dash Cam and the Rear Camera, which will appear on your Live View as a PiP (Picture in Picture) in the top left.

With a Rear Cam attached, you can tap the Rear Camera PiP in the Live View Image to make the
Rear Camera fill the current viewing screen. Tapping again will reduce the Rear Camera view to
its original size and position.

you can take the sd card out or take the whole front camera from the holder and plug it into a computer.

there will be separate files for front and rear

Thanks, but can you not use an app to view the rear camera videos

I find the Nextbase app incredibly flaky.

If I manage to successfully connect to the dashcam, I can usually transfer 1 or 2 (1 minute) videos before the connection drops/times out during the next transfer.

I find taking out the SD card and reviewing the content on a computer much less frustrating than the Nextbase app.

I might give that a try too. Thanks😀

Thanks for replying. My reason for wanting the dash cam fitted was that a few years back I had the misfortune to be involved in an RTA. An off duty policeman rode into the front off side of my car on his motorbike. No sooner had taken in that this loon who was on the wrong side of the road had hit the car then he jumped off his bike and started screaming assault into his phone. Within moments a police car turned up, had a talk with the chap ( note no breath taken, which they should have done). I was told I was at fault. Yet it was clear I was on the right side of the road, and the position of the motorcycle clearly showed that the policeman was not. Long story short. The police never answered my insurance company’s demands. And in the end they closed the claim. My insurance rocketed up soon after. I was also charged with assault, but that was dropped later. A dash cam would have saved me a lot of problems. So I always use cameras these days.

That is not good. You would expect policemen to be honest.

A few years ago I was driving in town along a quiet road when a police motorcyclist started driving straight towards me on my side of the road. Visibility was not great, it was dark and raining but I did see him and slowed down. I then stopped and he started shouting at me. He was stopping traffic for a VIP in a Range Rover but how I was meant to know this still beats me. I was in a 4x4 SUV and could easily just have run straight over the top of him. That would have taught him a valuable lesson 😅.

No, I didn't have a dash cam.

I don’t trust the police anymore I am sad to say. In fact I don’t trust the whole justice system in this country anymore.

I didn't know we had a justice system. BTW you can now steal up to £200 worth of shopping from lots of different stores ( 5 x £200 = lovely ) and it is now not a crime. Many yrs ago I walked in on a shop robbery by accident and helped the uniformed policeman (who was losing the fight ) against an incredible hulk with a knife.  We won, only just! The copper gave him a right beating with his truncheon! I got a letter from the chief constable a couple of weeks later. I thought It's my medal or commendation or thanks at least.  No, it was a threat from the police saying I could go to jail if I refuse to appear in court as a prosecution witness.   Luckily the guy pleaded guilty, but my name and address were given to the defence team and his evil mates.  The guy who owned the shop left the country shortly afterwards -Honest!

There is a postscript to this but I won't bore you.

I think I can beat that one. Around 5 years back now. We had our house broken into. It was around 3 at night, and my dog wakes me up. There is me thinking he wants out. So down the stairs we go, me totally naked. Only to find some tor-rag all in black in the dining room. I went for him and so did the dog. We got him down after Hitting on the head with a side lamp a few times. My wife called the police. 2 hours later in they came. Hello Liam, they said, upto your old tricks again. Then asked me to make him a cup of tea, which I refused to do. So they took him away after having a look around and asking a few questions. Three hours later they are banging on the front door. I was arrested for ABH. I spend 8 hours in the cells, a £2,500 find, tagged for a month and ordered to do a years anger management. The toe-rag, walked away free because he was a drug addict. He has over 60 previous convictions. And nothing ever done. This is what do-gooders have turned law and order into. A total joke.

  • 2 months later...

I got the nextbase 380gwx cameras fitted on an LBX. The recordings are terrible ranging from a flickering 1 to 7 seconds, even though it's set for 1 minute recordings. It seems fine when the car is stationary or I unclip it and take it inside, but as soon as the car is moving it acts up again. Should I lower the G sensor or reduce exposure from 1080 to 720?

Poor electricial connection...?

Failing that i would take it back to whoever fitted it and insist they sort it.....don't know what you paid,  however I'm sure it wasn't cheap.....especially if it was by a Lexus dealership
