Hi guys,

I need your help with my GS430, over the past two days I’ve had the attached warning lights come one. This morning driving home they come on again but this time the power steering went and the brakes seemed off. I creeped home and stopped, I tried to start the car again but I wouldn’t come one. The radio was flashing on and off and the Battery sign come up also. I’m hoping it’s just a new Battery job, any advice would be much appreciated 👍🏻

It does sound like a 12v Battery failure. Hopefully you can test or try a replacement to confirm. If the Battery is good then you need a code reader to obtain the fault code(s) from the vehicle.

Thanks Colin, I did plug it in. I got 10 codes saying P0000, couldn’t really find what that meant. Thanks

That isn't a valid code. Possibly that's what your reader outputs when it cannot properly read a Lexus propriety code? Or the vehicle's computing isn't working correctly if the 12v supply is too low.

Thanks bud, just had it on Techstream. Code the attached codes, could still be a number of things but voltage seems to be the cause. I’ll get the RAC out to double check then go from there 👍🏻

Typically several unrelated codes appearing at once does suggest a 12v Battery issue.

RAC have been out, turns out it’s the alternator. Quoted £350 to replace, does that sound reasonable?

Not too bad if that is to supply and fit with a decent warranty. It is unlikely to be a genuine Lexus part though.

Ye supply and fit, it’s a Lucas alternator. Or I’m also looking at getting my alternator professionally refurbished which ironically is over £100 cheaper. Decisions decisions lol

That might be the way to go if you can do without the car whilst it is being done.

Ye just by luck I’m on annual leave, I think having the original part refurbished would give it longer longevity than a new non OME part 🤞
