Remote parking control on the Gen 5 RX

Recommended Posts

I've just had another attempt at theft on my Gen 4 RX (stopped by the Lexus insurance immobilizer), off to the dealer to get the headlamp working again on Tuesday. So I'm mulling over getting a Gen 5 RX to beat the CANBUS thieves.

Does anyone know if the remote control works on the Gen 5 Takumi in the UK? This thread from the NX forum suggests it a bit hit and miss. For me I really fancy the ability to get the car out of a parking bay if someone else has parked up too close.

It's the only Takumi feature that really I want so I'd love to know if it works, given the premium plus has the 360 cameras / HUD.

Remote (automated) park disappeared from the NX MY25 configuration specifications, and I can’t see it on the RX. I’m not familiar enough with the RX to know if it was ever offered on the RX gen 5, but this is perhaps a question for a dealer (and one to get an answer in writing if you proceed to order!).

I have the feature on mine but never managed to get it to work, always complains there's not enough space to manoeuvre. Probably designed for the US where they have bigger parking spaces.

Yeah, I was going to ask the dealer (although mistakes can happen so getting an answer in writing might be an idea). Alex's answer suggests it's present on the UK cars, if not as useful as I hoped.

The other question I have (after a quick peruse of the manual) is the cruise control. On my Gen 4 once set it works down to zero mph and this is great when you're stuck in a slow moving motorway situation, just let the car keep the distance from the car in front and you only need to hit resume if the car stops for more than 5 or so seconds. Interestingly the Gen 4 manual mentions "full speed range" which isn't present in the Gen 5 manual (which sort of implies cruise control can get cancelled if the speed drops too much)so I'm wondering if this has changed?

Never tried it myself but I've read there is a sort of "creep mode" to maintain vehicle spacing in slow traffic, handles the braking as well I believe.

I suspect it's the same thing @AWC anyway I've bought a Gen 5 today and it's already appeared in Lexus link.

Now to wait for the arrival from Japan.
