advice needed - potential new purchase

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Came across a Lexus CT200H -2012 85K on the clock.

Only issue is the last service was done end of 2021 so that's 2.5 years with no service and the car has done 30K miles in that time.

Dealership so could negotiate 12 months warranty and they have offered to carry out a service before hand but thinking should I just stay away.

Lexus's are hardy but that doesn't make them immune to servicing especially with this type of mileage.

List price is £7250, white colour with "cream" leathers so aesthetically pleasing but that;s not the most important thing.

Advice please

Well I got CT200h 2012, bought from Lexus as Approved Used. Serviced with Lexus and under extended warranty from Lexus. Clocked 82k miles. But Grey with black leather seats. I am having thoughts of moving to EV in next 3 months. If your interested I'll keep in touch.

If the previous owner neglected having a service for 30k miles they obviously did not care to look after the car properly, I would expect a very significant discount to reflect this.

Spock - it's a dealership so I wont be able to do much on the price.

My main concern is whether or not this could have LED to some mechanical issues  - Lexus are known for reliability but 30K miles with no service ??

Looking for something quite soon - if you're looking to make the jump within a week or two let me know

Ok, but how does it compare to the market price?

If it's just the market price for age and mileage then I would suggest shopping around to find a better example.

If that serviceless 30k miles was done around That London type of traffic, stop start etc., jog backwards in top gear. Trouble lurking.

I would say below market price considering considering the extras - heated cream leathers and can probably squeeze a service out and some additional warranty time

Difficult to tell Kev, and I sure as hell don't trust the dealership to be straight on this

Well I'd steer clear, service history is a must for me as the CT has a cam chain, oil change each year and the chain will last the life of the car, I'm probably to far away to offer you mine,  2014 CT-Advance, full Lexus history, 48,000 miles, unmarked interior, exterior, non smoker, two brand new Pirelli P7's fitted on rear, 7mths relax warranty left, being  pensioners we're struggling to get in and out of the car now, only reason it has to go.

I would check the dipstick and feel the oil and see how dirty it is, if it's bad I'd walk away, plenty out there.

Oil changes are crucial!
