Just bought a NX300H - 2021, 5th Lexi, 1st Hybrid one.

The EV Battery goes up to 6/8 bars after a good run, did 100 plus miles on Saturday, and i took it on a very short errand yesterday, the 2 miles there it was fine, on the way back, the Battery monitor had dropped to 2/8 bars, circa 25% ish i guess.

I noticed the same when i picked it up last week, EV was used on a short urban hop, then it discharged very quickly and stayed in mainly petrol.

Is this standard for Lexus. as we have a Kia Hybrid and that has never gone below 40/50%, so trying to set expectation for a different vehicle, or do i need to get it checked out.

TIA

That is normal.

It will try and maintain the Battery around 50% so you have capacity to store more energy if you are going down hill etc. and have enough spare energy to assist the petrol engine when needed.

You have to remember it is a Hybrid and not an EV, therefore not designed to run for a long time on electric like a fully electric car.

The Hybrid system is to aid performance and cut emissions, the fact that it will run with the engine off for short periods of time is a bonus.

The car will determine the best time for the engine to be off and run on electric, just let the car do its thing and all will be good.  Trying to force it to run on electric will be detriment to your economy as the engine will need to come on for longer periods of time to charge it 😊.
