Viewing Service History

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I just bought an approved used 8 year old Lexus IS300h from a dealership and am curious about the service history.

I did ask to see the service history multiple times but it wasn’t till after I got the keys that they gave me a print out with dates of services etc, no information on what was carried out at each service.

They also gave me a “battery health check” certificate which was dated 2021 but I noticed that it’s for a different VIN.

Is there an online portal or somewhere I could go to check the history myself?

Also, anyone know how the breakdown cover that’s supposed to come with Lexus Select approved used cars is supposed to work? I haven’t received any information about that at all. Neither about any warranty that’s supposed to come with a Lexus Select vehicle. The whole thing seems very disorganised and I’m not sure if this is a normal experience or not.

Download the Lexuslink app & register.

In the UK you need to enter your vin/log book number & it should allow you to view under the 'Service & maintenance' option.

Here's a snap from mine displays history of everytime it's visited a dealer.

The online info is pretty poor, does not give full details of the work carried out.

Exactly this. The info on the portal is probably as bad as the printouts thwy gave you. Also any services done outside the lexus network wont be recorded on the protal. Further a hybrid health check certificate from 2021 is pretty useless as you are meant to run these every year to keep your hybrid Battery warranty going ( for up to 15 years) but presumably since the select cars come with a 1 year warranty you should be covered for this year anyway.

Go To The Lexus Website and Click Maintenance And It Clearly tells you What is Checked for Both Full And Intermediary Service Criteria Also you should have On Your Service log Book ALL Service Work... Check all Consecutive Services have been Done And You should get THE BIG PICTURE..Why The vin Number has Changed could just be a Simple error But If Not Challenge them on That anomaly..Something not quite right there

Unfortunately there’s no logbook - I assumed this was normal for “new” cars (2017) and it’s all kept online. Is that wrong?

The printout had entries for servicing every year but didn’t say what it was for, just the cost (£600 the last couple of years) and also the MOT every year which was clean.

I might be overthinking it all but the fact they gave me a printout for a Battery health check for a different car is a little concerning, honest mistake perhaps but the whole experience of buying this car from a Lexus dealership has been pretty poor.

Just registered for the Lexus app but need a code from the V5C to activate it. Once I’ve got that in the post I’ll double check the history. I think the Battery health checks should appear on there too? If not, I’ll challenge them on the phone.

Mine is a 2020 model & I have a service book that is stamped every service & also recorded online. So I would challenge them about this & if they don't have it ask them for a duplicate service book.

Ok, thanks for the info. I’ll chase them on that one.
Does anyone know if I’m supposed to get any kind of report on the “150 point check” that is supposed to happen with approved used vehicles? Nothing like that was provided.

I’m starting to feel like I shouldn’t have trusted the dealership on blind faith - might sound silly but I thought because it was Lexus, I could trust them!

I am not sure they give you the report, it just has to pass the 150 point check to be Lexus approved.

I think Lexus are like most main dealers, if they can get away with something they probably will.

If you know which dealership did the service they may be able to provide additional details.

For my car additional work like tracking and air con service was undertaken (as I have the invoices from the previous owner) but nothing is recorded online other than the service being undertaken.

Recently bought a UX and due to the distance from the dealership everything was done online. When the car was delivered the service book was missing. I had already asked during the purchasing process about service book, warranty and Lexus assist. Got nothing back from the dealership. I contacted Lexus uk as I thought maybe service books had been discontinued. I received an email from Lexus uk that one would be sent to me by the dealer. This arrived in a couple of days stamped with the service date, whether that was carried out is another question as the car was very low mileage. The questions regarding warranty and Lexus assist were never answered. I sorted the assist out myself by contacting them and after a lot of emails and having to provide proof of ownership they updated my details and confirmed cover until 2026.
