Had a recall letter today for my late 2023 UX Takumi. Front or rear camera may have a manufacturing fault, it needs to be inspected and changed if needed.

I believe it only covers certain months/years of production when the “faulty” cameras were fitted. It’s not urgent, I believe it’s visual at first so having mine done in early November with my first service.

I got the camera recall letter a couple of weeks ago and have the car booked in for that. But yesterday had a text from Lexus saying that there's a safety recall and asking me to phone. As I'm busy all today I just wondered if anyone knows if there's another recall in addition to the camera issue?

Unfortunately the Lexus UK recall checker website isn't very explicit as for my car it just reports:

We have identified that your Lexus is subject to a voluntary customer service campaign or outstanding safety recall.

And advises phoning a dealer.

I rang Lexus yesterday and the text does refer to a separate recall from that for the camera. Apparently it's a software issue which takes about an hour to fix. Mine will be done during the same visit that's booked for the camera work. I don't know what safety issue the software recall is to fix.

Booked 20,000 mile service and both recalls for 6th November. Was told that if camera recall needed parts it would be overnight as they would need to get the parts.

As it's almost a 400 mile round trip I suggested they have the parts to hand on the same day. They aren't keen to order parts that may not be required - hardly Lexus quality service. I also asked for a courtesy car at the same time - no problem - FOC (but £20 for insurance!!). Never had any charge for a courtesy car before from anyone - ever.

Waiting on a response to my email to the General Manager.

I think its reasonable to pay for insurance on a courtesy car when it's scheduled servicing, however there should not be a charge when it's for recall purposes. I was given a car "free" from the dealer when my NX was recalled and indeed received a top up of petrol when I collected the car.

Just shows the decline in Lexus Service.

When my one year old LS430 had a recall in the early 2000’s they dropped off a car and collected mine from home.

When they returned my car it came with flowers for my wife and a box of chocolates.

Thank you Lexus Sheffield.

The charge is for the insurance, not the courtesy car. That said I've never had to pay for insurance on a courtesy car from Lexus

Shouldn't have to pay anything as its a sanctioned Lexus recall, likewise petrol should be reimbursed.

I had issue when I took my GSF in for recall work with exactly the same issue regarding fuel and courtesy car, a quick email to Lexus Customer services soon had me reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses and my inconvenience.

I was informed that Lexus GB cover all the necessary costs to the dealer regarding recall works.

Service and recall completed on Wednesday. Excellent service. Courtesy car would have been FOC as part of the visit was for the recall. Enjoyed their hospitality until it was complete at 11am.

They also filled the fuel tank for me prior to going north the thick end of two hundred miles. Very pleased.

Had my 1st service yesterday and the camera did not need changing. My car arrived in Bristol about 12th October 2023 so I suspect it was built mid 2023. Also mine does not need a canbus protection plate or it’s already fitted, not sure, but I do not need a retro fit.
