Hello

I don't know if anyone can help.

I have unusual problem with the HUD project which I think it is faulty. The car was on the major service in Lexus Twickenham last Friday. The only thing which they done with the HUD they changed the brightness level down but it didn't resolve the issue.

Anyone can recommend good Lexus dealer around in Surrey area?

Thanks

Hi, I presume it's the aura around the compass icon that's the problem. What it looks like to me an oily fingerprinty smear  on the optics.  Have you tried a cloth on the top cover of the hud unit?  If not, I'm presuming its on the lens (inside the box!) or the object screen (also inside the box)

It's unfortunate that Twickenham couldn't be bothered.

Fish Brothers in Swindon Lexus haven't done anything yet to offend me, but the way that Lexus dealers are set up does make it difficult to get anything more technical than changing wiper blades done.

Incidentally, I've gone minimal on my display. Speed, speed limit, and the lane keep/cruise  I have on, but have turned off the rest as just too much information!

Good luck

That's a HUD projector fault. Not that common, but I've come across a US forum with maybe 5 or 6 examples. It could be caused by very strong light entering the HUD and burning a mark on the display. My 2018 ls500h had this, kind of kidney shaped. Over a few months it grew  to 2, 3, and 4 orbs, all located top right thankfully, so pushing the top image off screen or turning the brightness right down would soften it, though HUD wasn't viewable in bright days or with sunglasses as a result. I bought the car in February, with a 12 month warranty. The garage examined it and said there were no obvious patina or marks on the mirrors or visible glassware. I'm surmising the internal LCD or DLP panel is burned in spots. They got warranty approval to fix, and it was finally done last week. The projector is a €2000 part, and a lot of the bulkhead in front of the steering has to be dismantled to access, so the job took the day really to do. I see guys in the states paying $4k for this. Image below at night in May, this grew by one more blob.

If you had Lexus main dealer services then the Relax warranty should be valid and the HUD needs to be replaced under warranty.
