Rear bumper protection film …

Recommended Posts

I was helping someone move house today and despite transporting three car loads of items without issue, right at the end of the day I clipped the bumper with a plastic box and just caught the edge of the bumper protection film. I was exhausted and didn’t quite lift them high enough.

To say I was annoyed is an understatement. It did its job and protected the bumper which is good I guess.

I tried to flatten it out , but it’s kind of stretched and has gone white. I managed to cut of the ‘bruised’ white part so it looks a bit better.

My question is how easy is it to take the film off and put a new one on?  I have found a genuine item on eBay for £25, but I’m not sure I feel confident enough to do it myself.

I guess Lexus could do it or maybe a third party person?

Advice greatly received.

It would be worth asking your Lexus dealer. Hopefully not some stupid price.

I would be tempted to try it myself. Ensure bumper is clean. Ensure film goes on straight with no air bubbles.

But as you say, maybe not as easy as it sounds.

Good luck 😀

Thank you

i found the below video which makes it look easy, but I’m sure that isn’t the first time he has done it. Not an NX, but very similar film size/shape.

Think I am more concerned with getting the current one off.

Use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive on the damaged film.Constantly check there isn't too much heat with your fingers and clean any glue residue with tar spot remover.. Autoglym.

Yes, they do always make it look easy 😅

Not sure if you could just apply the new film over the current one (double protection).

Will the current film just peel off? Maybe some heat like a hair dryer would help.

Putting it over the top will not work as the bruise/scab part would still be visible.

Yes David just said above about a hair dryer, so that maybe a thought, just don’t want to damage the paint or the ceramic coating.

If you speak with your local sign centre/vehicle wrap specialist they should be able to help with removal and application.
