Is the panoramic all glass roof problematic?

Recommended Posts

I'm negotiating with a dealer right now on a new 2025 ES 350.  Although the Lexus Vehicle Configurator say that I can get the Mark Levison sound system on a luxury model with a moonroof, the reality is that Lexus here in the US will only build an ES 350 with the Levison sound system if you get the ultra luxury model that includes, among other more expensive things, the all glass panoramic roof.  The dealer says that he can submit a dealer order for the car that has everything else I want and I'm considering having the order submitted but I'm a bit suspicious about an all glass roof.  Another Lexus owner who's experiencing the same issue of wanting the Levison sound system sent me a video warning that said the design of the seal on the glass roof is poorly designed and subject to wind noise and water leaks and that the corners of the roof seal are not securely snapped in place but instead held in place with a small piece of tape and the tape doesn't hold.  The video went on to describe an owner of a vehicle with this issue and kept taking it back to the dealer for repairs that would never last.  Eventually, his warranty ran out and he was faced with a $2000.00 US fee to finally get a seal that would work and they were without the car for several days as  disassemble the whole roof from inside the car.  That possibility freaks me out and I'd like to get some feedback from recent year ES 350 owners on whether this is a old issue that's been resolved in recent years or problematic.  Any feedback will be appreciated.

Don't know if it's the same but my RX450h+ has a panoramic all glass roof which opens on the front half of it.  Other than the little fly catcher net (that's what I call it anyway) that needs a vac every so often I find it FaNtAsTiC !!   I also have the ML.

Protect the rubber seals with silicone spray and you'll protect them from UV wear and shrinkage over time

No doubt this was the Car Care Nut on YouTube, who certainly has a great deal of practical knowledge of Lexus cars.
