Lead Times and "downsizing" from UX

Recommended Posts

I;m on my second UX and do like them. The boot is obviously rubbish but with just two of us, it's easy to pop the back seats down. I do find the touch screen awkward to use when on a journey. As mine is Prem plus it also unexpectedly tipped me into the extra road tax bracket! (list price had gone over 40k when mine was delivered a year after I ordered)

Therefore I'm going to look at an LBX at the weekend.

Just wondering what the current lead times are. I'd be looking Takumi Spec which hopefully keeps be below £40k.

Anything else to look out for?

Just been looking at EV prices and according to the figures the average price in the UK is £48K so already £8K over the tax bracket.
Of course just like several other taxes this limit will remain fixed pushing more cars into the upper bracket.

EV’s are currently exempt from the luxury car tax until 31/3/25.

From April 25 they will have to pay it, so if you are thinking of getting an EV, get it before the cut off date.

I'm looking at Hybrid so Takumi seems approx £38.5k?

I had a Takumi out of the showroom so didn’t have to wait. I think the lead in times are around 2/3 months but you’ll have to check. The Takumi is £39,200ish (with pearlescent paint) so under the road tax bracket and there’s no options so it’s still normal road tax. Plus 60mpg from any LBX is a bonus. Coming from a Corolla that underpins the UX, I think you’ll be quite surprised at how good the LBX is. It’s modern inside and the boot is alot bigger and deeper (My Corolla has the same tiny boot). Passenger space is less in the back but knee room is only an inch or two less and it’s easier to get into. I don’t really carry many passengers so not an issue. It does feel like a smaller car and the ride is a bit harder (for some reason) but it feels good on the road.

I’ve downsized from an NX, I never use the rear seats so the smaller boot in the LBX isn’t a problem. I have an AWD LBX on order from the beginning of August and have been told to expect it in November. I’m finding it easy to get 63mpg in my present FWD LBX.

I saw an LBX on the road yesterday for the first time - when seen against a mix of other cars in traffic I was surprised how big it looked...

I had an LBX Original Edition courtesy car for a couple of days recently and was most impressed. The ride was a bit firmer than the UXe at lower speeds but it was generally excellent and very quiet on the motorway. The specification was really good and it felt very solid and well built. I managed to get c70mpg in mixed driving. If I wanted a smaller Lexus, I'd consider the AWD LBX for the multi-link rear suspension but overall the FWD version was great.

Very wide hipped so looks pretty beefy for a small car. Mine is wider than my 2019 Corolla trade in!

The lead time depends on whether they happen to have what you want in stock at the main distribution depot. In my case (Sonic Grey Takumi) they had one and I got it in less than 2 weeks....

If you don't add any options apart from paint the list price is under £40000 (unless they have hiked the price recently....)

So far done around 400 miles and overall average mpg is 66.2  - can't complain about that !

I ordered Sonic Grey Takumi this week. The dealer said it was in the depot waiting for an owner. They were desperate for me to take delivery this month even offering to accept credit card for £18k. I told them we were waiting until September as Mont is tied k up p in 35 day notice account. The manager said if we paid by card the money would be available by the time the cc bill arrived. Desperation! We get car 9/9
