RX450h P2602 fault with check hybrid orange warning.

Recommended Posts

Hi
After 35 miles, on Monday during the hot weather, the check hybrid warning came on and the hybrid systems was not doing much i.e. the regen braking was not working.  The cruise control did not work.

I stopped to make sure I could start the car and it seemed OK.  The next morning the check hybrid light was on but everything worked.  Another hot day and 50 miles on the way home the problem happened again.

I see a P2602 code on my reader but it cannot be easily reset.  I reset it by disconnecting the Battery tomorrow.

Anybody have experience of this?  The fault is Coolant pump A control circuit low.  That could mean a faulty pump, ecu, connection....

I did see it cost somebody on here £1K at a dealer.

Any pointers for more advanced diagnostics would be appreciated.

Cheers Bren

Hi Adrian
I spoke too soon!  15 miles in to my ride to the golf club the fault came back.  The pump is running now because the coolant was hot.  I need to have a look at the latest fault.  Techstream tomorrow.

apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol';">Is there possibly air in the system? There is a bleeding system for the inverter coolant on the 400h I wonder if there is one for the 450?

Good luck resolving the fault.

Thanks - I'll take a look.

Hi,

Any update on this? I have the exact same on my 2010 RX 450h. The "Check hybrid system" light is flashing on the dash, and the fault code is P2602. Did you have the oil pump replaced by a main dealer for £260?

I had a diagnostics done by Lexus and they said the "hybrid oil transmission pump" needs replacing  and quoted ~£900 just for the part...

Hi RXboil

The fault is the transmission oil pump - at first I thought it was the inverter coolant pump.

The list price for the pump is £850 - you can get the genuine part part for £350ish.  However, I was stuffed I had to get on the road immediately and my local independant Toyota/Lexus specialist in MK had one on the shelf.  It was 2 hours labour to fit.
The good news is the fault is fixed and the car runs better than ever.  In the past if I put it in gear and accelerated quickly there was a little bump.  Now it is as smooth as silk.  The Lexus dealer did not deal with my request to investigate.

£1K to sort it out.  I expect it will be more at a Lexus dealer.  The last time I talked to them they wanted £450 the change the front break pads and £660 to replace the rear disks and pads.  I use independents these days.
Good luck
Bren
