But to 'Qualify' you can't write a cheque for your Bar Bill!

Damn right, payment by shrapnel.

Hoho, bar bill implies you got to pay later. Not in the pubs I used to frequent.

What comes to mind is semantics. In a very literal sense the increase in employers NI does not break the manifesto pledge. In strict economic terms the opposite is true. It is that form of politics that we have come to abhor. How to lie without lying. This won't end well.

Politicians like to give the idea that they are telling the truth and they don't even get close to that simple obligation. But what they forget is that there is the truth AND the whole truth AND nothing but the truth. There's the rub.

I meant to ask, Malcolm, whether this resulted - in recognition of your services - in the award of an OBE?*

Well if you read Democritus Gray, the ancient Greek philosopher he states "in the world there are only atoms and the void, everything else is opinion". So if you look at politicians statements they are just that, opinions. Not expressions of truth nor promises nor honesty but just their opinion. It should come as no surprise then we can't agree with their opinions. 😎

Brings to mind the uncouth observation that opinions are like asrholes. Everybody's got one.

I've had to turn it off, still in campaign mode. Still claiming credit for investments that have been in negotiations way before they were elected. And claiming credit for the OAP rise of £920 of April 2024 in "pensioners are better off under labour. 😱

Yes, if it wasn't so tragically wrong it would be funny.  Do they really think we are all so stupid?

So we had an info leak from our leader this lunchtime, a very minor hit ( God knows what other punishment they have in mind for us ).  Bus fare cap will be £3 instead of £2.. Sounds like nothing until you work it out.

Chap goes to work 5 days a week = £2 per day extra =£10= £500 per year of cost of working after tax. If he pays tax at 20%  it is a hit of around £620 from his gross pay. Lets say he earns £28000 per year as a modest income nowadays. This equates to over 2% rise in tax  ( very approximate figures ).

AND this is only one of the tiniest hits that we will be subjected to.  Prepare to get battered.

BTW If he is fortunate enough to have a car OMG it's gonna be a lot worse for him poor chap.

BTW 2 - Could we use these redundant rubber dinghys on the beaches in Sussex to get out of the UK?:boat:

It used to be simple. Labour have always thought they can spend your money better than you can. But it's moved on from there, they now think they can use up your entire life better than you can, so what you think is irrelevant if it doesn't conform to the collectivism ideal😕

Reminds me of Star trek and the Borgs. The one on the left may be Keir?

Exo-plating - The Borg Collective, Star Trek Wiki

You WILL be assimilated ! And your bus pass value will be reduced and given to the Collective.

Great maths but not if you are a shirking from home, 2 day a week Civil Servant 🤗 you won't notice the difference after your pay rise and concessionary travel.

It could even be that they don't even think the money they are spending IS YOURS. Probably more convenient if it has always been theirs to spend and you are, but a conduit through which it flows to them.

Oooh that's got me thinking. Verrry deep! But now my head is hurting. I wonder if they will make us all pay for prescriptions - they have already banned painkillers.  Aaargh it's getting worse - SPLAT🤯
