Hmm, seems the only economy she has dealt in is the one known as economic with the truth. Surely to god, there is now an abundance of evidence to nail her fair and square as a liar?

I watched the 2 part BBC doc on Immigration. For the most part it was aligned with my thoughts on the issue in so far as it really started in a major way with the Blair govt. Where it didn't meet my perception was with Johnson onwards.

Both Cameron and Farage I thought came out looking informed and trying to do what the voting public wanted. Strange really as you would not think that possible, but Cameron really appeared to be taking the fight seriously, but was badly undermined by his own party. When it came to Johnson et al their policy was best described as a huge betrayal.

Frankly, it left me thinking why would I ever trust the Tory party ever again to deal honestly and transparently with immigration. Certainly a simple change of leadership would not do that. Perhaps Reform really are going to be the only show in town for voters who want to see this issue brought under control. Whilst I still see it being uphill for them getting the scale of support they really need to be in power I would now be prepared to at least add my vote.

I recently saw a recording of Reeves addressing a business conference during which she laid great emphasis on her previous experience as an ‘economist’ in the banking sector.  If this claim is now show to be in any way false by a previous  - and senior - employee of Lloyds Bank, then it’s going to take some explaining by her!

I am somewhat surprised that only now are the claims in her CV  appear to be being challenged.  I would have thought that applications for references to her various employer’s HR departments would have set the record straight.  Or just as significantly, a refusal to corroborate them.

I believe that some mutterings by previous coworkers may have surfaced earlier on ‘social media’, but rather like the Essex Police visit to Allison Pearson to accuse her of a ‘non crime’, this has the feel of a story that is now going to run and run.

With her past history of all the odium that this individual previously directed at Boris Johnson as an ‘inveterate liar’ I suspect that they’re already queuing up for some world class score settling.

True Len, but she wasn't wrong. Johnson was a liar. I had not realised to quite what an extent until watching a Doc this week.

So on the face of it, Stephen, another instance of Pot v Kettle!

Although now we can indulge in the game of assessing which lies are the most egregious!  And if that even makes a difference in principle.  However,I don’t recall Johnson ever calling the Opposition ‘liars’ or ‘scum’ in or out of the House - and requiring the Speaker to intercede.

More importantly I suggest in this case is what - if proven - Reeves claimed as her CV when initially appearing before the Labour Selection Committee?  Would she ever have become an MP in the first place?

The MSM are unusually quiet, imagine if Badenoch who says she worked at Coutts bank as a Director was in fact a counter clerk at Nat West! 🤯. The calls to resign would be relentless

If only we had an MP that sounded positive. This country never has had one, and there lies the overall problem with the UK

should someone ever come across a positive clip from a mp, then do please let it be shown

Here's one that's positively mind boggling, from Net Zero Watch

Miliband is retaining his long-term advisers. Guiding the UK’s energy policy operation will be climate activist Tobias Garnett, the former coordinator of Extinction Rebellion’s legal strategy team who represented the road-gluing activists in court. Garnett believes our trajectory is currently “descending swiftly into a politics of ecofascism forged in the crucible of scarce resources, droughts, floods, climate wars and forced migration.” Doesn’t quite sound like politics that will “tread lightly on people’s lives”…

Also on the team is Jonty Leibowitz, whose passion is arguing for socialist reforms to football that include:

A 100% tax “imposed on transfers from abroad“. Just like China’s…
Extra 2% tax on all transfer fees with higher rates from Premier League clubs.
To fix “the deep wealth inequalities between the men’s and women’s games“, introduce a “mandatory wealth tax or levy for all clubs which do not promote equal resource and pay for both games“. An own goal against your own national sport…
When it comes to his energy brief Leibowitz’ contribution is a policy paper which argues that “regional banking” should be forcibly re-oriented to “financing the energy transition“. Ideas shared by radical Corbynite and “green” bank devotee Miatta Fahnbulleh – recently appointed energy minister…

SpAd Eleanor Salter’s focus is “integrating nature into the climate offer“. Salter thinks a “fundamental shift” is required to deal with the “climate breakdown“, which includes “taking many cars off the roads altogether.” Her other “nature” proposals include allowing anyone to traipse across private property to make “the countryside open to all” but especially to gypsies, whose “access rights are already under threat from the authoritarian Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which seeks to criminalise trespass.” And who would have guessed that Salter once said our “best sources of hope” come from Jeremy Corbyn, and that Extinction Rebellion has been “hugely successful… a great accelerator for activism”…

At least we don’t have a Minister for Health who actively promoted anti-vaccine conspiracy theories!  Who would be stupid enough to appoint someone like that!  🤔

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday picked Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine activist who dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Trump, to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

And possibly sooner than anticipated, Malcolm.  I looked out of the window at 7am and saw a couple of inches of snow blanketing the landscape!

It’s so totally unexpected that the BBC local forecast is STILL only aware of the possibility of ‘light rain’.

I’d say it was even less than half the truth about RFK Jr. judging by the actions of an American organisation called ‘The Center for Inquiry’.  By coincidence, this is an email they’ve just sent me:

The Center for Inquiry (CFI) urges our supporters to make their voices heard on a crucial matter of public health: Join us in opposing the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

As CFI president and CEO Robyn Blumner declared, Kennedy “may very well be the worst possible choice the incoming president could make for the vital job of protecting public health.” For starters, he is a lawyer with no training in medicine or public health.

Much worse, of course, is that he is a well-known opponent of vaccines who has for many years spread dangerous misinformation. This includes the scientifically discredited claim that childhood vaccines cause autism. As Secretary of HHS, Kennedy would possess the power to reduce access to vaccines – as well as to erode Americans’ trust in vaccination (and in science-based medicine in general).

Given that vaccines rank high among modern medicine’s most significant advances, it is difficult to overstate the potential harm. One need look no further than the deadly measles outbreak in Samoa in 2019, where Kennedy spread misinformation about vaccines that contributed to the deaths of 83 people, mostly children.

Among other claims he has made regarding public health matters:

  • Kennedy has called the COVID-19 vaccine the “deadliest vaccine ever made” and has instead touted ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine as effective treatments for COVID-19;
  • Kennedy has claimed that 5G wireless network service is being used to “control our behavior”;
  • He has falsely argued that HIV does not cause AIDS, despite clear scientific proof to the contrary;
  • And he has linked mass shootings to the use of antidepressants.

Additionally, the Secretary of HHS oversees vital federal agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

These agencies have a tremendous combined responsibility to ensure the health and welfare of the American people. Kennedy is manifestly unfit to lead them given that he sows distrust in science, spreads conspiracy theories, and expresses disdain for the “medical establishment.”

America simply deserves better leadership on health. Please contact your member of the U.S. Senate and urge them to oppose Kennedy’s nomination for Secretary of HHS.

Fair enough, though it’s an email from a democrat leaning organisation so could be considered somewhat biased.

Try the podcast, it’s an interesting listen….

Here's another interesting item.

"Compared with nine other high-income nations, the United States ranked last overall this year, with a lower life expectancy and higher rates of death and disease despite spending the most on health care, according to the report, released Thursday by the independent research group The Commonwealth Fund."

Given this trajectory wouldn't you wish to get to the bottom of the why and consider alternative approaches? I mean even Richard Dawkins arch atheist, evolutionary evangelist and key member of the CFI now concedes the possibility of Intelligent Design 🎉
