Fear not, Phil.

He may be a pensioner, but as a State Employee I expect he qualifies as a “working man’ and will therefore still receive his WFA.

Mind you, I understand that Buck House is a devil to heat at the best of times, so no doubt a few extra quid (as he might say) would not go amiss.

Phew! Thank goodness for that! Guess there's no need for WFA in Samoa in the meantime 😊

I share a name with HM but that's it. Happily, I am not a monarchist and believe the many should not have to pay for the few, worthy or not, to have a life of opulence. The only saving grace imho is that we'd end-up with some ar**hole like Starmer bigging himself up as 'President' - we really would!

Or even worse one Anthony Blair 😱

Charles we all I’m sure concur with your sentiments

The Gross Incompetence of Starmer and Reeves decrying the UK fiscal position on Day One in Govt set the scene for the downward spiral in the hearts and minds of the British Public and especially OAPs with cancelling the WFA …….. the effect, the instant stop spending of the British Public …… in their minds, just in case ..,…. and the devastation that has caused very many small businesses already “ on the brink “ ……. the Public stopping spending

Gross Incompetence fiscally by Starmer and Reeves with “Joe Public”  shoved aside to wonder wot on earth might happen in making their challenging financial positions much WORSE ……. in this upcoming, full of fear, Budget

That’s the current situation for millions of Joe Public right now …… WORRY WORRY WORRY 🥵

Malc, you speak of the incompetence of the Chancellor & PM and the rest of the Cabinet. But my question is do you think they have the mental bandwidth capable of any original thought? If not then who exactly is hiding behind them making the bullets? There clearly are some malevolent characters lurking in the shadows like some modern day Anthony Blunt 🤔

That depends on what you mean by "mental bandwith".The reality is many people exhibit behaviour that appears at odds with their measurable intelligence. Intelligent people for example who could make a statement regarding their idea of a "working man", and completely fail to spot the error in it. This has nothing to do with their intelligence as most people would define that term. It is everything to do with core beliefs that have been left unchallenged. I would have enjoyed a cognitive restructuring session with Starmer. The latter is just a fancy way of saying let's test why you believe what you believe and see how it stands up to questioning

You don't need "malevolent characters lurking" anywhere to understand what is going on with people like Starmer and Reeves. As usual is the case it is all Psychology at the root of it.

Phil hi     i really don’t think there’s any Malevolent Source behind them, they’re just Old Fashioned diik’eads of immense proportions that are clueless of modern UK society and bereft of sensible financial acumen

We, the UK Public deserve so much better than this shower of Labour Govt nincompoops and their Labour MPs can seemingly provide 🥵

Well that was prescient of me, just read this in the Mail. Follow up the rest of his vitriole should you wish.

"A senior adviser to Foreign Secretary David Lammy has questioned how much people will mourn the death of Prince William, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The comment by Ben Judah, the Labour adviser who has been described as 'Lammy's brain', is one of a string of astonishing remarks he has made that the Conservatives have branded republican and 'anti-British'.

Another interesting editor's article in the Times yesterday...

The last paragraph is very true...

The tangled web devised by Labour to win the election is about to be swept away. On Wednesday the truth will out. And the working people will pay.

It's a well written article identifying the core issue of terminology and how it can lead to such diverse opinions on what at first blush looks to be a relatively simple question "what is a working man?". That's why I read the Times. It's oft just well thought through. The only thing I think they missed is that at the heart of it it's not necessarily a betrayal ,or at least an intentional one. It is much more to do with the error effect of stereotyping. We stereotype to reduce our mental workload and in effect save processing time. Get to our decisions and judgements quicker. That's the pros. The cons are you fall into the trap of omission. You miss information. You categorise badly. You arrive at the wrong conclusions and decisions. In this case wind the clock back 50 years and I suspect the stereotypical answer to what most people would consider to be a workingman would be more universally agreed than it is today. Over the interim society has evolved and moved on and with that the historical idea of what is a working man ought to have moved as well. However, looking at the ideas voiced in that article by Labour MP's it seems clear that their stereotype for a working man has not moved at all. It is bogged down in ideology that appears reluctant to change. Not surprising. When you are part of a tribe, an ideological group. In this case a political party you are more than likely to adhere to the same beliefs, share the same stereotypical way of looking at things. The article writer alludes to this a little with the comment "antedulivian". They just don't dig into the underlying rational for that preferring to see it has some form of "betrayal". It is a form of betrayal, but only in so far as they have decided to park their brain in neutral on some parts of life.

Stephen ……. that’s if they had a brain to park in the first place !
There'll be surprises galore on Budget Day …… especially if the Markets don’t like it and the BofE has to step in to stem the tide of Govt fiscal stupidity …… a la Truss 🤔

Whatever, the Working Man will be hardest hit, maybe not directly, but by ill thought out fiscal stuff that damns businesses to cutting back and they directly impacting the Working Man in not too good a way

We’ll see come Wednesday and Thursday morning and if the pounds in our pockets can still afford to fill up our Lexuses ……. WE ARE amongst the fortunate few eh !

With respect Malc the oh so many leaks todate have been ample prepping for markets. Indeed, that is at least part of the purpose of leaks. They would have to come out of left field with something as yet unleaked  and meaningful to disrupt current expectations.

Absolutely ……… so let’s see how this pans out Wednesday and if there really aren’t any untoward surprises ……. zero confidence in that on my part …… I don’t believe these Govt clowns wouldn’t do summat totally unexpected, unwarranted and fiscally detrimental to our Nations stability ……., they simply aren’t that competent 😰

I have zero confidence ……. and as a small business owner it’s the likes of me, and hundreds of thousands like me, that needs confidence in the Govt fiscal strategies for ( my ) small business to move forward ……. or even stand still

Small Businesses are adept at Crisis Management but don’t expect to have to cope with fiscal ineptitude by Govt stupid imposition on them

Channel your inner Bob Marley ; "Don't worry about a thing. Every little things going to be alright".

You realise they might be pulling the biggest confidence trick of all? If you have ever heard about the concept of 'Over promise and under deliver' then you will see it's relevance to 'sell the bad news and then deliver something better'. Damn ,why does my glass always have to be half full.

You’ve already drunk a half tumbler FULL of whiskey or whisky then 🤣👏

Mines a coffee until Wednesday afternoon …….. strangely enough, we’re recruiting new staff on the premise that this Budget will give our UK potential customers some freedom and happiness and the Will to spend more ……. fingers xd 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Never mind robbing the workers and the poorest in society, maybe he thinks they have the broadest shoulders??

But your conclusions are also the first thing that occurred to me when I heard that they were going to fiddle the books to create non-existent money to waste. The global financial experts will see right through it and a situation will evolve where borrowing, gov't and private will be at severe risk of spiraling.    a la Truss  - exactly.

It's interesting Kevin in that I am sure a number of people on the LOC could have written such an erudite article without pay! But it's not about language or spurious definitions it's all about your MONEY and where it comes from 🤑. If you are paid for your work from one of those filthy capitalist private enterprises you are to pay for your Ill-gotten gains . If your money derives from indirect sources, stocks, shares, trust funds, rental incomes etc then you shall have 666 on your forehead and pay even more. If however you rely on the Mother Theresa of all good things, the Public Sector, then you shall benefit even more greatly from the efforts of the rapacious ones 🤑

I think a little light digging will reveal that "the Blair creature" as Peter Hitchens calls him, will reveal Blair as major puppet master of the the present government/regime. He's well and truly back I'm afraid!

The video and debate from the black belt barrister is truly damning. It's a pity none of the current affairs reporters don't show it every time she is on TV, also a pity that they allow these people to dodge the questions and facts many times.

It's also a pity that hypocrisy and duplicitous actions from politicians is not a criminal offence.
