Playing Compact Discs in LBX

Recommended Posts

Hello : I have just taken delivery of a 2024 LBX. This obviously does not have an in-car CD player. I wish to connect a player, either through Bluetooth or with cables. Does anyone know how this can be done? Are there specific Bluetooth CD players that won’t connect, as I have read on forums some don't work. Any advice appreciated.

Kenny,

How attached are you to a physical CD player?  I think the new MM21 infotainment systems can read lossless flac files from USB, so you could get a good number of CDs converted to flac and put on a USB stick.  I think the limit on USB size on MM21 is 32GB for some reason, but that's still about 50 CDs worth.

Thanks for your reply. The snag with that is that the LBX does not seem to have a USB port, just a USB-C one - so I would need a USB to USB-C adaptor to use a memory stick. Can't help but feel there must be a means of connecting a Bluetooth CD player (a physical one) to the system.

There are plenty of usb-c flash drives available that will plug straight in that will be cheaper than a cd player.  Also a lot more compact and I think overall a lot less fuss.  But there does seem to be a decent selection of BT enabled in car CD players on amazon, but I have never tried them.  You would want them to work with the up/down track buttons on the infotainment system.

Update : I bought a USB-C adaptor and plugged a regular USB memory stick into it. At first the message on the Lexus said 'not recognised' then eventually did - but only   some of the music on it. I know there are thousands of songs on the memory stick but it only seems to be reading some of them. Very frustrating. Who knew listening to my own music in a brand new car would be so f*$*# difficult!!!!! The car is leased from an English company - anyone know if I took it into my local Lexus dealership they'd help as it could easily be something I'm doing wrong.

Thanks

Is there a difference in the file type (e.g. MP3; AAC; FLAC) between the songs that do appear and those that don't? Maybe the ones that don't appear are of a file type that the car cannot read. Failing that, personally I doubt that anyone at the dealership will have a clue (unless you're really lucky to ask someone who has more than the basic "car salesman" knowledge).

The simplest solution is to use your phone.I have about 1700 tracks which takes up 39Gb.The majority are good quality flac format and some MP3 .

The phone connects to the car via AAWireless and all tracks have album art.I use a (free) app Musicolet to organise the various discs/tracks/random playlists --it works well,if a little fiddly at first as there isn't much in the way of instructions.

When I first got the car,I had loads of CDs in a storage case, but they have lain unused in the back footwell for years.

Perhaps you have more than 32GB of music? I think the new MM21 system only supports 32GB (lord knows why... Even MM13 in my wife's car supports over 64GB.

Whittle it down a bit and see if it works?

Dealerships tend not to be very specialist at these things unfortunately.

Many thanks for the tip. I'll investigate Musicolet. As you'll probably gather, I'm an old dog and this is a new trick......
