RX450h tow bar/ towing

I’m just kicking tyres at this time.

Has anyone had a towbar and electrics fitted to their vehicle.

I know the favoured choice is at the time of order/ delivery, but I’m past that!

I presume it would be a dealer fit, with lots of ££££££££ involved

Are there any independent out there that are capable of this service.

Does anyone tow a caravan, with their RX, and how does it perform.

Pete,

Had the towbar with electrics fitted prior to delivery, so can't help with that. However my previous RX450h Sport with its 3.5 litre V6 was an excellent towcar for my largeish caravan, an 1800 Kg Adria Adora Seine.

I was a little concerned that the new RX450h+, with its 2.5 litre 4 cylinder might not be man enough. Needn't have worried because it tows just fine and as well as the previous car.

I tow a 1600Kg caravan with my 2023 RX350h. The towbar was fitted by the dealer before delivery.

I have previously towed with Range Rovers and Land Rovers.

The Lexus is a pleasure to tow with, at least as good as my previous cars.

I was concerned how the eCVT would cope and how it would perform being a hybrid. It tows great and I would recommend it as a tow car.

Hi Pete, I tow a Coachman Laser twin axle with my 2016 RX450h and it tows beautifully. As for tow bar fitting I got mine done by the Lexus dealer as part of the deal for getting the car so I can't comment on price but I think it was fitted by a local (to them) tow bar fitting service. It is a Lexus branded bar but is identical to other Westfalia bars I have had in the past. A quick look at PF Jones website will tell you if other bars are available and what fitting entails etc. As for performance it will cruise all day at 60mph on the motorways but dont expect much above 20-22 MPG towing depending on temp and wind.
