It'll be fine, just might not start. Get yourself a jump pack and make sure you know how to unlock the doors with the metal key. It's all detailed in the handbook.

Not the same car, but I left my NX for over 3 weeks and it was fine.

Good advice to get a jump pack or whatever, just in case.

Do you know if your Battery is in good condition? Try to give your car a good run before leaving it.

Good luck 😀

Depends on the condition of the auxiliary Battery.  If leaving a month, I'd certainly want to leave mine on a CTEK or similar charging unit to condition and desulphate the Battery if needed, overnight and preferably for a few days.  A healthy auxiliary should read around 12.6V on a multimeter when not under load or charging.  Just about all of my auxiliary batteries over the years have struggled to hold charge when much over 3 years old, much past a few weeks if the car has been left unused.  Last one I changed after lock down as frequently, it was left for weeks at a time and that didn't do it any good.  Never had an issue since buying a CTEK which I leave it hooked up to if the car is left for a week or more.

Will my rx450 be ok unused for upto 4 weeks unused ?

The car will be fine but the 12V Battery is another thing.

As others have said, it very much depends on how old the Battery is, its condition, has it ever been flat before, and so on. Consider the example below:

All vehicles have a quiescent current draw when 'asleep'. This is to power things such as the alarm, the radio presets, the seat memory and so on, and for modern cars it's usually around 50 milliamps (50mA or 0.05A).

The 12V Battery capacity is measured in Amp Hours (Ah) and if I remember correctly yours will be 50Ah, which means it can supply 50A for one hour, or 25A for two hours, or 12.5A for four hours etc., etc.

If we assume, for this example, that your Battery is brand new and fully charged we can say that 50Ah divided by 0.05A (50mA) = 1,000 hours from fully charged to fully discharged. That's 41.66 days, or 5.95 weeks.

However, you have to take into account that this is the theoretical maximum and in reality:

  • your Battery may not be in great condition
  • the Battery will not be able to start the car long before it becomes fully discharged

I would leave it on a trickle charger because each time it gets discharged it gets damaged and it loses capacity.

Hi Paul, I would be happy to drive it while you're away.
