Radio buttons only partially working

2007 Ls600hl:

The radio/DVD controls on the dashboard do nothing except volume control works but the on/off doesn't even though it's the same button.  Also working on the dashboard are the load and eject buttons.  It is no longer possible to turn the unit off.  On the other hand the radio/DVD controls on the steering wheel all function properly. The other controls : for navigation, a/c work fine as does the screen.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can suggest is switch the car off and back on in other words disconnect the 12V auxiliary Battery, leave it a short while then reconnect.

Hopefully it may reset everything.
