Hi all

Been reading through the comments to find an answer but nothing really has stood out.

The car was parked for around 3 weeks. When I tried to start it the Battery was low as you would expect and wouldn't start the car. I charged the Battery with a smart charger I bought of amazon and let it do it's thing for around 25 hours.

I used this 2 years ago when I had a similar issue but it all worked fine then

When I connected the Battery back to the car it started all fine and seemed ok. However I saw that I forgot to put the battery's plastic surround on. So I disconnected everything and attached the plastic surround and started the car up again. All seemed fine and I took it for a short spin. Then the dash lights started showing check hybrid system and check AWD. Now the car drives but only on hybrid. It doesn't change it to the petrol engine mode even if I press the acceleration to over 25mph it does nothing. It's like it is on limp mode.

Now the display in the car where it shows your Battery charge status , it sits at 1 bar only. If I disconnect the Battery and reconnect it, as soon as I start the car it starts charging the Battery but doesn't move pass the 1st  bar and if I try to drive it, it cuts out. Any ideas please ?

Ok an update.

I left the car overnight with the Battery connected. In the morning I started it and the engine light came on but no warnings for the AWD or hybrid. I let it run for 15 mins and it wouldn't turn off so I took it for a spin. The engine was working constantly and the hybrid also however the engine light remains on. I drove for 15 mins and the car was driving like it should with the engine light on. I parked up turned the car off. When I restarted it the engine light disappeared and it drove normally for the next 30 mins. I bought a another Battery just in case but so far so good. Does it mean that when the Battery was connected overnight the electrics cleared themselves of errors or what could it be?

Sounds like you sorted it with the Control/Alt/Delete you did, and the fault codes have now reset. If it comes back then I suggest buying an OBD fault code reader and clearing that way, or reading the codes if they come back to identify the issue (if not a major item then it could be something like a bad connection/frayed cable which is worse now it's been touched). Might give you a clue.

I don't think you need anything special, Carly or others which work via Bluetooth and an app on your phone are a good idea. only cost £20 to £30 or so.

Issues like this can frequently occur with a run down auxiliary Battery.  First thing I'd do, especially if it's a few years old, is change it otherwise you may have a repeat of the issues you've encountered
