I’m no engineering genius but have rebuilt car engines and changed clutches. The suspension on my LBX looks like a torsion bar system, lacks drive shafts and I can’t see a large electric motor. At present and without a picture of an AWD rear axle I’m prepared to give the car the benefit of my doubt but the odds seem to be that it’s an incorrect order.

AWD has improved wishbone rear suspension, unlike the simple torsion bar the FWD model has.

Did a bit of online search and found an underside pic of a 2021 Yaris Cross AWD - you can see the electric motor in the middle of the axle and I think that's missing on yours.

Here's also a video of another Yaris Cross and it's similar. Hope you get this sorted at your retailer.

I/We were correct, it’s a FWD version and a dealer ordering error, they are horrified and ordering the AWD one for me. There’s a wait, however my faith in the Lexus dealer’s customer care is intact.

Remind me what caused you to actually question your drive train?

Glad your/our suspicions were correct, not ideal, but good they are putting things right.

I do quite a lot of track driving to access woodlands and turning round the front wheels spun on grass and there was nothing happening at the rear. Initially I thought it was because of the road tyres but then looked underneath. It was somewhere that my NX dealt with it’s AWD system.
