Yes Len, I know, I am torn between vector 4 seasons and the CC's. But so many people on here speak positively about CC's I am inclined in that direction.

And another YouTube review from a few days ago. He does mention that a new version of the CC2 is due out which should address any weaknesses.

For what it's worth we had CC2's on a BMW X1 and they were very impressive. They lasted about 32,000 miles and were very good in cool or icy conditions. Only drove once in the snow but traction and braking were very good. No traction control and abs light when I accelerated or braked. May try something different based on the review below when the wife's 350 F-Sport needs tyres.

By chance anybody else out there who has had sucess in locating stock of these 'hens teeth' tyres recently.... if so where.

Agree with others who quote the advantages of Run Flats opposed to normal tyres.

Back in February 2023 I had a puncture and Paid Asda £284 for one tyre. My Lexus Dealer charged north of £300 but I was Ok with that for the convenience of having it all done at one visit.

A rather painful £364 and that was some time ago so expect that price to have risen.☹️

I would have to check, and the invoice including other items is in the car, but I think it was between £350 and £360

In Feb 2024 I paid £296 (no haggling or Lexus Forum Discount - I just needed a tyre!) from my Lexus Dealer. This was for a direct replacement Bridgestone Alenza RFT.

I'd taken out Tyre & Alloy insurance at the time of buying the car, so claimed £250 back which was a simple process.

Thanks Len, the reason why I asked is because last week I had a puncture and to my pleasant surprise, when I went to kwick fit they repaired it free of charge, when I asked what caused it, the one that repaired it had already left, so I am wondering how they repair a Ran flat.

The reasons they give are widely accepted and boil down to the fact that they cannot know what damage has been done to the sidewalls by driving on the deflated tyre.

I presume you did drive on it?  Or indeed you may have been driving on it for some time before you realised it was flat!

I’d advise giving them a call and sorting it out.  Run-flats are really only designed as an emergency solution allowing the car to be driven slowly to a safer location before replacing the tyre.

The safest option, unfortunately, is to replace the tyre.  😢

It must have been a slow puncture, the low pressure warning came on but the steering felt fine and a visual check seemed okay till the tyre got cold so it could have been a small easy repair,but wandering how they repair it. To change all 4 tyres would be quite painful as I have only done 15ks

Unfortunately, it’s not so much the rate of the puncture - or even what caused it - it’s the fact that the tyre was driven on while flat!

If it wasn’t actually caused by penetration, the air loss could be due to a fault with the valve (eg grit in the dust cap) or kerbing the wheel and distorting the rim.  

Whether you have to replace all four tyres surely depends on the tread wear.  Personally I never allow treads to wear lower than 3mm as tests have shown that performance drops off sharply below that.

But if the other three are in good condition, then it’s OK to just replace the problem one.  Just remember that new tyres always go on the rear axle.

I looked into the repair aspect in Feb 23 when I had a nail in my Bridgestone RFT and learned that Bridgestone do allow repairs if not near the edges of the tyres. Unfortunately my nail was in the shoulder within an inch of the outer edge.

An interesting article, Ken.

However, I note that Bridgestone’s reply is heavily qualified and puts the onus on the mechanic to certify the internal condition of the tyre.

Other brands are either a definite NO - such as Pirelli - or apply specific conditions for excluding a repair, such as if the tyre has been driven on with an air pressure below 15 psi - ie flat!

More to the point, Giuseppe had taken the tyre to Kwik-Fit which - according to their website - has a Company policy NOT to repair RFs!  I think that’s the point that needs clarification.

Yes that make sense for my Bridgestones, must have been an easy repair as I didn't have a completely flat and didn't damage the walls.
