Can anyone suggest the easiest way to set up DRL on a Lexus GS300 2006.

Not maybe the easiest, but I replaced the fog lights of my GS450h with LED DRL+Fog lights combo. See this old thread:

The link to the units in your old post does not work anymore, but looking at similar units it is not a cheap fix.

However, I have found a solution - I just covered the light sensor on the dash and turned the switch to Auto, so the side lights come on as soon as the ignition is turned on, without waiting for it to get dark.

I got a set of these switchback white/amber LEDs for my RX300 when I had it and they were great.

All it needed was a single 12V relay wiring in and that was easy.

Highly recommended if your car is suitable for these.

Herbie, slightly off topic but is it possible for  a 2013 Rx450 to have the rear lights included in the DLR system.

I'm not sure but would say no, simply because it would look like you're pressing the brakes.

I had assumed it would just give the impression of running with all side lights on (Which is what I would like)

You may well be right, I honestly don't know - but there must be some reason why they don't include rear DRLs during the factory build of any car, be that Lexus, Ford, Jaguar or whatever.
